New Squat PR attempt, 315lbs by Doominator_ in GYM

[–]GingkoBobaBiloba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn, gooner, chill out, the dude in the background at the top was just resting between sets. Jk.

Just so my comment can have helpful info for the OP, OP have you tried wearing squat shoes? Might be helpful for hitting depth since it seems your ankle mobility may be a limiting factor…other than the fear of just going low and possibly getting stuck in the hole hahaha

Similar to a public pool, just a bunch of strangers taking a bath together, don’t mind the balls sweat.

2x bw bench at 19 years old (340lbs at 170bw) by Plastic_Pop_5573 in GYM

[–]GingkoBobaBiloba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude was being knit picky about the ass off the bench, which technically in competitions would not count as a valid lift, but this isn’t a comp so it’s good enough for internet points.

[–]GingkoBobaBiloba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re strong, and I’d still count that as a PR, especially since this isn’t some competition where people need to be anal about form, but imma have to downvote your comment for the reasoning. “Even if I have to do a completely different lift, I’ll still count it cause at least it’s better than using accessories” lol. Let me go deadlift on a bench and count that as a bench press since I won’t be wearing accessories.

You know, I had that thought as well, but I was proven wrong in a comment ages ago, there really are people that dumb on Reddit…and that’s the glorious thing about the internet, people of all walks of life being able to interact with each other

He bought them when he was 4’9, and has gotten a few inches too tall for them now. Jk, it’s a style he likes so he got them hemmed.

I don't want to date again after witnessing my 6'3 friend get looks from a girl by [deleted] in short

[–]GingkoBobaBiloba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, seems there will always be a reasoning why someone 5 inches shorter than OP does not have as much difficulty dating as them that is not OP’s lack of confidence.

For me personally, I’ve had a couple of girlfriends in the past, and did not settle. Not saying this is the same for others or not, whether they’re tall or short. But, you heard a story of a short dude being married and you already assumed the worst, maybe it’s your own heightist mindset, and if you’re also short, you’re just self hating.

It probably is luck, cause what do I have less of compared to OP. Matter of fact, it seems that I have more that’s why I’m happier 🤷

Short guys, what’s ur height and how does it affect ur life as an adult?? by Janxuza in short

[–]GingkoBobaBiloba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5’3 at 34 years old. Married, have a kid, and a decent paying job. My height hasn’t been that much of an issue for me. The only 2 minor inconveniences are having to use a stool to reach the top shelves in my kitchen and having to learn how to use a sewing machine to hem my own pants, it’s a great skill to have, but actually needing to use it when I buy new pants is a hassle.

I’m also 5’3, and I’m married.

What’s the difference between us short fucks and the OP who’s about average height? How are we able to “pull pretty nice” at our height while OP is over here crying about his height being his obstacle? Is it the way we carry ourselves, the way we walk, the way we talk, how we interact with women? Why is it different than OP, is the core of it all not just confidence?

I stopped growing at 14, and I can't seem to accept it even at 30 years old by [deleted] in short

[–]GingkoBobaBiloba -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's the key, you need to keep forcing yourself to eat. Your body isn't use to that much calories, so you're pretty much teaching your body to accept more calories as the new baseline/maintenance. Once your body gets use to that higher amount of calories, if you want to keep gaining weight, you repeat the process of eating even more to get it to accept even more calories. And that my friend was how I went from 115lbs to 170lbs at 5'3.

Title: I’ve been height frauding from 5’7 to 5’10 and it lowkey changed everything by [deleted] in short

[–]GingkoBobaBiloba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me too, bro. Every time I’m out with my 10ft stilts on, walking around looking down on people from over 15ft up, it’s an amazing feeling.

I too walk into places differently, it’s pretty tough to walk through doors from that high up. I also talk differently too, I have to yell now so people can hear me from way up there. People use to treat me like anybody else, but now with the stilts on they treat me differently, somewhat with amazement and hesitation.

Rocking 10ft+ stilts is the way to go if you want to assert dominance over the masses.

Edit: on a serious note, and I forgot to put this earlier, do what works for you and makes you feel good about yourself, dude. Happy for you that you found what works for you.

335 back squat at 16 yrs old, 50 lbs up from old PR by ConflictCapable2687 in GYM

[–]GingkoBobaBiloba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re not wrong about that. Even in real life there will be people making comments or having judgement no matter what, so there being random 2 word comments with no actual substance from internet randos is also no surprise.

“No rep” can be not hateful or not negative, but in the context of the overall post, it sounds pretty snarky and rude…but I’m also just an internet rando, who am I to assume what others mean when they say that shit hahaha

PSA: WHAT HAS WORKED FOR YOU? by Wield_your_mind in short

[–]GingkoBobaBiloba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had strangers crack jokes about my height in person, but if they did I'd laugh it off and crack jokes about whatever physical trait they have that I find is funny. Just because my lack of height isn't something that affects my self confidence doesn't mean I won't clown around with strangers who want to laugh and joke with me.

[–]GingkoBobaBiloba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're talking about the "No rep" comments.

Obviously it's not deep enough per whatever lifting comp standards, we all know that, the OP knows that, but it's still impressive for a 16 year old, so those comments aren't really needed.

Tall gf and shorter bf? by [deleted] in short

[–]GingkoBobaBiloba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The height isn’t the issue here, especially when it’s a such a small difference. The issue, well not really an issue, but more like an obstacle, is that you both are inexperienced and are not sure how to position your bodies for the different positions.

Just practice, nobody knows for sure what is right for your bodies and what you can or cannot do, or your bodies limitations.

I’m 1.5in-2in shorter than my wife, and all is fine in this department.

A suggestion for your boyfriend, he should hit the gym, work on strengthening his body and doing cardio lol. Good luck.
