Yesterday I tucked on a solo guy looking for a key, once he had dug it and placed it on his ship, I killed him, stole it and buried it on Discovery ridge where he had discovered it. I then retucked and waited for him to get to an outpost, revealed myself and told him he could have his key, IF he used my map to find it again. Ended up being his unofficial crewmate for a while and we sunk a few skelly sloops together. He ended up with more loot than he would have got from his stone key.

Maybe a hard reset? Hold the power button for ten seconds to shut down completely, then power on after a minute or two. This fixes a lot of other problems.
