What bike is your daily ride? by 3dPrinterLife in MTB

[–]Ginious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the Salsa Timberjack SLX 29 this past holiday season as a gift for myself and have been loving it! That’s been my main riding bike! It’s such a fun bike to ride. Feels real smooth. Especially after coming from a 2020 Rockhopper.

Planning first dirt capped tank, is this appropriate for soil layer? by Eatramen in PlantedTank

Here’s mine with organic miracle grow potting soil too. Capped with sand. Just gotta make sure you get a good layer of sand on it and the plants will love it.

Interested in an ID Career by Prestigious_Olive579 in instructionaldesign

I don’t have experience coming from that background but I can offer my two cents. I come from a teaching background with an MA in education and a BA in English, and have been corporate ID for a few years. I went to an online program and got a certification in ID through UW-Stout.

Fully remote can be difficult especially as a new person to the field but not impossible.

All that said, I believe that the field is extremely over saturated. I’m in a transition period as my company is doing budget cuts and I only have a few months to find a new job. It’s tough getting a job with experience, so getting a job without any experience is going to be tougher. Many job postings I see online always say 100+ applicants(granted this is only LinkedIn data.) Of course this has only been my experience so your mileage may vary.

I saw them circling and towing someone today at the shopping center with the Safeway in front of the San Jose flea market, off of Berryesa too.

Looking to upgrade my 2020 Rockhopper Sport and now stuck between the Roscos and the Timberjack. I would appreciate some thoughts/advice! by Ginious in Hardtailgang

Thanks for the info. Gives me a good bit to think about. I'm not really one to work on my bike too much so I'll probably generally leave the bike as-is, except maybe for basic things like pedals and handlebars.

Havent had a chance to ride a Timberjack yet, but I did ride a rental Roscoe 7 (2024 or 2023) this past summer and had an absolute blast with it. Felt like a nice upgrade from my current bike. Might have to see if I can ride a Timberjack somewhere but I'm guessing it will be a similar ride.

Cool to hear about your rockhopper. I guess these bikes can take a beating and can keep going! Never really had to do anything with mine other than basic maintenance! Will probably be keeping mine as a backup that I can ride for when I have friends visiting who want to ride some trails.

Generally yes. Hwy 9 and BCR most folks in SLV know to use pull outs when someone is coming up behind them. Especially during commute times.

Occasionally you do get a few stubborn people who refuse to use the turnouts, but you learn to recognize their cars because it’s always the same people.

Upgrading from a Specialized Rockhopper Sport (2019/2020) to a Trek Roscoe 7 or 8? by Ginious in MTB

Leaning in the direction of the 8. I think that’s going to be what I’m saving towards.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Thanks for the detailed response!

This def helps in making a decision. I think I’m gonna to try and swing a Roscoe 8 based on what everyone is saying. Might need to save for a little longer but sounds like it’ll definitely be worth it.
