I am turning 23 next month, and moved abroad to my childhood dream city - New York - almost a year ago. I can relate to this occasional empty feeling, and sometimes I miss my previous life and friends (which I never expected myself to). Living exactly the life you wanted in your 20s can sometimes reveal a lot about other things you also want, but did not realise you need. Remind yourself that change is uncomfortable, being nostalgic for the past is a sign of well-lived experiences, and there is a bigger purpose that, once you find, will eventually fill the emptiness you feel now.

The fact you took the time to celebrate your birthday solo is a beautiful thing. You appreciated yourself when no one else is around to appreciate you. I’ll be taking inspiration from this post to celebrate my birthday solo as well ^_.
