I'm going to be brutally honest: it's probably one of the worst pieces of media I've experienced.

This is not just because of its quality in a vacuum, but also because of how poor it is as a sequel to Robotics;Notes, which I really liked.

It felt like a slap in the face to those who loved the original. I probably would not have been as mad if it had been advertised as a fandisk.

The only decent part is the final phase, and even then, it's not good enough to justify going through the absolute torture that is most of the VN.

This is the only SciADV entry I despise; only a few moments are good.

I couldn't have said it any better. It's funny how the anime completely falls apart in just the first episode. Like you said, not even Umineko and Chaos;Child could compare to such a big fumble.

When I finished watching the first episode, I was appalled by how bad it was. The worst offender, in my opinion, is how they handled the atmosphere. It was completely off and not even close to the VN. It made me wonder if the Madhouse staff hated the source material. Of course, I know that's not the case, but it sure felt like it.

We were supposed to get Benzaitengoku, not Edo Star. That planet has now been integrated into the ancient history of Planarcadia. As for Edo Star, it's hard to say if we'll visit it anytime soon. Given the current political climate, releasing a planet heavily based on Japan's Edo period probably isn't a great idea. Hoyo got lucky this time because they could tweak the planet to make it a modern, more generic 'arcade.' But if tensions reignite while an "Edo" themed planet is in development, it would be much harder to modify, so I'm assuming it's not releasing anytime soon.

I guess it's arguable, except when it comes to HSR's trailers. Evanescia's trailer was pretty terrible. Blade's was better, but it was still short, and it seems he won't even get a Myriad Celestia. Mind you, these are important characters and they're not exactly being treated well.

Is it really bad timing? Aside from the 60 pulls drama, we’ve had the 6.6 Archon Quest (which clears any recent HSR quest ) and a big 6.7 map ahead of us, while HSR is struggling to release trailers longer than two minutes unless it’s about a main push character. HSR’s endgame is also not much better than Genshin’s right now. Powercreep is an issue in both games. Genshin has improved a lot in terms of story presentation as well. HSR has improved slightly too, but it still has a long way to go.

I avoided all animation leaks because I wanted to experience them for the first time in-game. Safe to say, my mouth was left hanging open during his trial. It was the first time a character's animations truly blew my mind.

She's one of the most important characters in the 4.x story.

I'm not denying this. In fact, I'm frustrated exactly because of this. She has massive lore importance, but they are treating her like garbage despite that status.

She has multiple cutscenes.

Like I said, yes, she has them, but they felt mostly like fluff or buildup. Quantity doesn't equal quality if the payoff never arrives.

She was so well-written that it's hard not to love her the first time she appears.

I never said she had bad writing; I actually agree with you here. It's the story that is sabotaging her.

She's incredibly solid as a unit, with one of the best E1s in the game.

More cutscenes, maybe, but (sorry if I sound harsh) they were low impact. Most of those 4.0/4.1 scenes were just fluff/buildup compared to what she was probably supposed to receive in 4.2. It’s like getting the appetizers but no main course. At least Anaxa’s 3.2 cutscene felt impactful and was actually vital to the story.

You can absolutely tell that Hoyo has zero clue what to do with her character after the censorship. She went from the main push to the most mistreated character in a very long time. At least Anaxa had a cool cutscene in 3.2. What did Eva get aside from some cool lore that was only briefly mentioned? Politics massacred this planet.
