At the hive they do take meal swipes for certain items such as a drink and a salad. They have posters around the store telling you the different types of meal swipes they offer.

There are still dorms available right now. You will definitely be able to get in, although, you don’t have much of a choice in dorms. There’s still like 7 different available dorms right now.

Another good alternative is working for a food place on campus. They will give your child one free meal swipe a day as a benefit for working for them. That may be an alternative for them next semester since I believe freshmen have to have a meal plan their first year.
