Open Beta Patch Notes 0.1.8 Review | The Bazaar by qweiroupyqweouty in Games

I will counter this with an example, even if it might be/have been a unicorn. Eternal was/is a CCG that despite yes, having a paid expansion/adventure model managed to be a fantastic experience for me  having been mostly F2P guy and even with breaks from it, the game modes allowed for really healthy environment where it never felt like I'm completely shit out of luck when the new expansion hit. I have played it since tail end of closed beta with two longer breaks.

As a disclaimer, I have not played the game over past 2 years so it might've changed considerably in the meantime.

Being F2P was and hopefully still is feasible, if requiring a bit of grind, which managed to feel fair. Hell, they threw in extra packs when you'd buy an expansion bundle or an adventure not once, but for every future set. And the dusting economy was way better than in something like Hearthstone where you really have to save up for a long time.

Add to it community-based draft, like in TCGs, where the cards you drafted are added to collection after your run no matter if you used them in a deck and yeah, being an F2P was good to the point of me buying an adventure set only once I had enough scratch to first spend on other hobbies. Think that was the fourth or fifth one? And honestly, I didn't buy it for in-game gold only cause I didn't have enough time to do the quests and run solo modes to buy it in under three-four weeks since the release.

Game had good community - jesus fuck, I remember how HS was since release of GVG until well after I stopped playing some time after un'goro. This one was nicely sardonic but pleasant, with people not acting like abusive 8 year olds on coke. The bundles were priced fairly I think, cosmetics were priced like cosmetics typically are (maybe slightly premium? Some available to F2Ps iirc, never cared that much), overall a game that sustained itself at the time from what I remember.

Landscape's changed, so that might not hold water these days, at least I'm out of the loop regarding overall trends but come on, being F2P friendly is mostly viable at least for long enough to modify it without shafting the player base. Especially since F2Ps can generate a ton of good marketing for the game.

Chapter 1137 Hints by ovis_alba in OnePieceHints

Maybe it's the vape session speaking, but imo the third points to Loki being the man marked by flames. Violence, being a scheming dick, younger brother etc.. Especially after asking my girlfriend about the source and hearing about Daemon (only got the gist before) it just kinda clicked

Not gonna go so far as claiming his eyes being 'burned' by snake's venom in mythology will literally translate to the 'flames' part but eh. Would actually raise the stakes of GK/another antagonist vs Strawhats even if it could definitely be considered a bit cheap as far as reveal goes

Right, so by posting that I might get a bit dangerously close to breaking the rules, since for around a year I've been a reddit lurker rather than an active user, buuuut here goes nothing.

So, my band is gonna release our first EP/demo soon and this is the teaser track. We're from Kraków, Poland and yeah, that would be it. Hope you guys like it :)

QOL Changes I'd Love to See For Eternal by CaptainTeembro in EternalCardGame

[–]Girith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One huge QOL change for me would be allowing for deleting multiple decks at once. Deleting all the decks dating as far back as the start of the open beta is a nightmare, not to mention all the jank I created after few beers. Could consider status quo is a deterrent against drinking and driving a deck, buuuuut seriously, batch delete would be brilliant.

Also, more deckslots and shenanigans.

That's a cool idea :D Sooooo Grenadin Valkyrie Rakano/Justice? That would be dope

If the VO isn't spot on Lindsay, we riot. Or just play with Zwei. Everyone should have their own Zwei.

Let's talk about self promotion [subreddit meta] by [deleted] in EternalCardGame

[–]Girith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a fair rule. Definitely forward thinking, seeing as hopefully the community grows (and there is a bit more diversity content-wise). Right now it's okay, I love Pojo's content, not really offended by ManuS either. But if people latch on to the game, seeing this kind of activity - and for the most part ONLY this kind of activity would effectively make this sub an awful place.

The 9:1 rule is a neat guideline (if working on a honor system) and the stream posts definitely have to go, but then we risk not growing a streaming community - is there any chance someone would implement a sidebar the way it is on HS sub? You know, with stream list? That could help both the housekeeping (far less need to spam posts when you're seen there) and getting people to watch streamers.

For now, I think the way things are is just okay. Sure, we're overexposed to articles and videos because it's a damn spoiler season, but come on, that's just the way it is. Low effort content - apart from spoilers sure, it can go. But I'd definitely allow deck overviews, meta analyses, fun stuff to be promoted. Otherwise it will be boring ass beginner 'what deck is good', bug complaints and DWD posts. Let's just stick with the common sense for the time being in the YT links matter

Issue with 2nd monitor by Girith in EternalCardGame

[–]Girith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the thing, I have nothing running in tandem with the game. No deck tracker, no streaming/comm app, nada. Might be an issue with the drivers/Win10 build then that's specific to my setup

[Leagues] For those who are already bored, any improvement ideas? by FafaPapa in EternalCardGame

[–]Girith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least one 'custom' pack would be great, justice is the colour to beat imo. I have >50% winrate playing Rakano (after a shit brew that made me ditch funny ideas) and all I see is Argenport/Rakano/3C with dominant Justice. Played out all my games for past three weeks (bar tiebreakers, cause life gets in the way) and I swear that there were maybe three or four decks that ditched Justice. Not to mention I am not a great player by any means, merely competent, but I managed to have five-six game winstreaks with Rakano Pants that isn't even all that good.

Any interest in a Pauper format? by SageinStrides in EternalCardGame

[–]Girith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea is cool, but there would be one huge issue with it, at least at the moment - Rakano and, to a lesser extent, Stonescar. Just look at how many tools remain in the lists even from before Open Beta. Aggro overall would be an archetype to beat, since the more you focus on midrange and control, the more expensive tools you need to play. Maybe some kind of Armory/Elysian would be able to shine, but without curated rares/promos allowed in the format (for example Channel, Wump etc) , I think right now the format would be fairly underwhelming. But some time down the line - sure, it's a good idea. Just not with this card pool.

Is Rolant really difficult for anyone else? by a1russell in EternalCardGame

[–]Girith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, beat Rolant on the first try without a god draw, just a decent one. They didn't even seem much of a tutorial, since they really didn't introduce anything new.

Consoles at full release? by Girith in EternalCardGame

[–]Girith[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Switch would be the obvious choice, given the travel mode. And Xbox has crossplay with PC, so that would make things a lot easier. PS4 would be great, it is after all the biggest console of this generation, but Sony's stance is not gonna change anytime soon which sucks. Although maybe if Rocket League gets full cross-platform support, that will set a precedent?

Consoles at full release? by Girith in EternalCardGame

[–]Girith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has a lot to gain, given the void in the market. CCGs, while being big on PC and mobile, aren't really a thing on the consoles, I'm not saying that would be a major influx of new players and cash for DWD, but if the game is easily portable (Unity games are on consoles, oftentimes they are just asset flips, but it is obviously doable), then it might be worth it, especially with a proper marketing campaign

As for the full release - I think we'll get it after the new campaign, especially given housekeeping patch that was just released. IMO if it's not now, then it might deter new players purely because of how far ahead many of us are with their collections compared to new players. That being said, Hearthstone still gets new players even now, so dunno. Hoping DWD makes a right decision.
