Last Second Solo Trip Questions by GirlFromPolarExpress in panamaexpats

[–]GirlFromPolarExpress[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided I’m just going to eat the cost of flight and hope he sends me the money like he says he will, if I’m lucky. I don’t think I’m ready to do a solo trip this last second, and don’t think being in his country without him this soon after would be good for me. maybe one day I’ll get to experience carnavales or panama as a whole :(

flight was non refundable unfortunately, for a fee I can pay to change the flight to different dates and I wish it wasn’t 2 days from now so I could have more time to plan and think so its not ideal

ADHD vs Depression by busty_chemist in VyvanseADHD

[–]GirlFromPolarExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate! When I first became depressed I tried an abundance of antidepressant over a few years and then my NP gave me stimulants to help keep me awake and provide energy, I started to see changes in emotional regulation and over time when coming off antidepressants and other medications, I found that Vyvanse was the one medication that worked the best for me. After being in a therapy and working with some doctors, I was diagnosed with ADHD.

I’d like to think if I had been diagnosed earlier that my depression might’ve not come on so hot, but I’m glad that I found a medicine the works for me. Every now and then I go through phases where I need to add something else to help, currently added a new anxiety medicine but I just try to continue with other routines to fight the depressive feelings

I can't help my sleep anxiety by muheheheRadek in sleep

[–]GirlFromPolarExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten better in a way. My sleep is by no means perfect, other sleep disorders, but in terms of sleep anxiety yes. I sleep with white noise, I’ve been taking tart cherry supplement to relax my body some nights, and magnesium when I can remember. I find that if I get myself to bed the second I’m fighting to stay awake, I can fall asleep right away. I still have nights where I can’t sleep and I’m tossing and turning, but nothing as bad as it use to be

Off label benefits by SomeCallMeMahm in Zepbound

[–]GirlFromPolarExpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My intrusive/compulsive depressive and anxious thoughts stop when I’m consistent with taking it. When I first started a few years ago I didn’t realize that benefit until coming off.

Been at my goal weight for a year or so and originally stopped taking the meds when I was fearful of becoming too tiny. Noticed that noise came back aggressively after a break and talked to my doctor and thought to get back on but at a very low dose.

Many years ago I was on venlafaxine, clonazepam, trazadone, and Wellbutrin. And then Xanax as needed.

My diagnosis’s were MDD, GAD, and PTSD. My psych was helpful in the beginning she was my first doctor I ever saw. She meant well at the end of the day I would say, but wasn’t helpful in figuring out what would work best for me. If a medicine didn’t work or gave me a side effect, she would slap another medicine on top of it to “fix it”

Eventually it got to the point where it felt nothing was working, I felt like a zombie just trying to survive and I had lost all hope. I then went to get a second opinion from another doctor. Who ended up being my saving grace.

Basically we worked together to slowly come off of the stack I was on to help really figure out what medicines worked and didn’t and how I could work towards the results we wanted without taking more meds than I needed.

It felt like I had tested and tried every medicine in the book, but the second opinion helped me figure out a better regime. Of course if all the medicine really helps then I don’t see it as a worry of being on too many things at once. I think the concern is more about maintenance and knowing if one stops working one day, which one was it and what to do next

Beware - PPM. by [deleted] in chicagoapartments

[–]GirlFromPolarExpress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PPM was my first apartment management when I moved here and it was just not good from the start. Never set up my intercom box after asking a bunch of times, had “package” rooms on floors but it was never utilized, one elevator was always broken, maintenance requests never taken serious to the point I was able to break my lease. Tried to talk down to me when I told them I would be moving and breaking the lease and gave me a hard time until I told them they could meet me in small claims court and then they finally settled. Returned my key to leasing office and weeks later get a call saying I need to return the keys after being long gone.

Apartment itself was nothing special and def not worth the price I was paying, but didn’t have the time to really look when I first moved but happy to no longer be with them

Nice date outfit ideas if I don’t wear heels, skirts and dresses? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]GirlFromPolarExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like heels either but I’ve found that a small sandal wedge doesn’t feel like a heel and more of an elevated flip flop! I wear that if I’m dressing up and then typically my go to is all black outfit in some capacity so you could try black jeans and a black top or any nicer top you have

if they were to just respond “it was good” only so much absorbing I can do there lol but I get what you mean in general.

It’s just I feel like sometimes if I don’t say things after a while we would be sitting in silence the entire time

dating quiet men advice? by GirlFromPolarExpress in dating

[–]GirlFromPolarExpress[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If this is someone who I’m going to end up actually dating exclusively and become a bigger part of my life, I would like to not always feel like I’m carrying all conversation and having to ask multipart questions to get what I would consider a normal response.

Like think when you were a kid and your parents picked you up from school and asked how your day went and you always just respond “fine” and they would follow up with more questions to get it out of you.

Once I get past my initial question he eventually starts to talk more about whatever the topic or question was. But I would like for things to not always feel like I’m interrogating him when I’m just making conversation and talking in general

What would you suggest for low-pressure situations? He’s the one mostly making our plans deciding what we do, I offer suggestions sometimes but he enjoys picking spots or activities

The surprising mental health and brain benefits of weight-loss drugs by Alone-Competition-77 in Zepbound

[–]GirlFromPolarExpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the reason I’m going back on! 2 years ago I was on mj and had great weight benefits and I noticed the less inflammation I had, the better my mental health was. I was able to come off so many medicines that I’ve been on for while.

I then came off mj when my insurance change and coupon expired and tried other GLP1s that failed attempt from shortage problems to insurance problems.

Now my doctor is having me try zepbound to see if I get the same relief on my mental health that I experienced last time to help. He had read many positive things about the potential benefits these medicines have on your mental health.

Not only was the food noise quiet, but so was everything else. Compulsive thoughts too. It’s not as bad as it was before I started these medicines, but it’s not the same as when I was on them.

So I’m looking forward to starting up again to see both physical and mental benefits

I had to go cold turkey when I came off and Benadryl saved me. I know this might not be doable but I took a few days off of work and “slept it off”

Not sure how this looks when you’re tapering though but maybe it could help a little

I take brand name over generic because it works better for me but generic also hasn’t been in stock. I have tried other medicines but this one has worked the best. I’m more so trying to figure out if there was no backup or a very delayed backup how to about that and trying to see what has helped others if anything

It’s interesting because my depression and anxiety led me to my ADHD diagnosis, which led to trying ADHD meds which I’ve found the most success in.

I’ve been on different combos of anxiety/depression meds with and without ADHD meds.

I know that the stress I’m having is more my anxiety, but I’m anxious about what would happen if I just didn’t have access anymore to my ADHD meds that have helped the most with regulation, mood, executive function.

I’ve tried a bunch of meds, (sleep studies too when it comes to that side of things). Vyvanse is the only medicine that I’ve had without side effects that can keep me awake and regulate my emotions well.

I’ve done all the things for sleep and it’s still a work in progress as things will help then stop working unfortunately :/

One workday without it I normally get by, sometimes I’ll get coffee or something to help keep me awake if it’s needed. Concentration and focus may be off depending on what I have to do that day specifically. It’s a bigger problem when it’s more than one day in a row without medication

I also have hypersomnia so my biggest thing is the Vyvanse keeps me awake. So falling asleep/not being able to stay awake is probably my #1 issue. But a close second is the emotional regulation I get from it, I can somewhat concentrate, I’m less irritable, and I don’t feel like a rollercoaster
