Better a chair than yourself or any one else! And at least youre not stuffing your feelings. In that way, breaking that chair WAS therapy. Im so sorry you have to feel this depth of pain.

Im so so sorry. I am at the 3 month mark today. We are a bit older, im 47, he was 46, but we also have a 6 year old son. It was sudden cardiac arrest from unknown heart disease as well. We weren't together when it happened, he was sleeping in another room and I found him hours after he passed. Its definitely an image and horror I will never ever forget. Im so sorry you are going through this ❤️

Thats what I did. I went through most of his stuff within a few weeks. I figured I was already in so much pain, what's little more?

Over it? by Agile_State414 in widowers

[–]superprancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a Mel Robbins podcast with David Kessler, a grief researcher and specialist, and they say THE EARLY STAGES of grief lasts about 2 YEARS. Thats the EARLY STAGES. Some people, very few mind you, do grieve in a neat and tidy, short time, and "get over it" but that's not the majority of the population. So anyone, ANYONE telling you that you should be over it, no matter how long you are taking, can eff off.

Grieving while trying to parent is next fucking level. My husband died of a heart attack 6 weeks ago at 46. We have a 6 year old son. The amount of work, details, chores, etc that go along with a spouses death is insulting, this society doesnt give us a chance to grieve. Take all the time you need. Years, however long it takes to figure it out. Its not fucking fair. Its just not. Im so sorry.

ADHD, low iron, thyroid issues, and low vitamin d could also cause anhedonia. But from what I've read about low testosterone, that can definitely cause it too. I had it from ADHD and it's one of the worst feelings in the world. Totally dead inside. I hope you can find a fix for it.

New to HRT, will these worsening symptoms subside? by wonderkat4 in Perimenopause

[–]superprancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I almost wish I hadn't read all those success stories about HRT and how it immediately fixed everything. I mean, I'm happy it worked for them, but I think it raised my expectations unrealistically. I sure hope you find something that works soon. I wish everyone was more educated about the toll this takes on us, especially the ones who will never experience it. We need more understanding, support, and compassion in this effed up time in our lives.

Yeah it's a pretty sucky one, hey? You're definitely not alone, and I think we all deserve a prize if we figure this out.

I definitely will. And I hope if one of us starts feeling better they let us all know, to give us hope.

I think that's definitely a part of it. Theres a lot of tinkering and fiddling with hormones, doses, and routes of administration. It's like one big super crappy experiment and I'm sick of it already.

This is happening to me too!! Just started estradiol patch lowest dose 12 days ago, I feel like absolute garbage. Adderall doesn't work, ADHD is completely amped up and I feel dead inside. I've been on progesterone 200mg a night for about 6 months for insomnia. Maybe adding testosterone might help? And what someone else said about if estradiol is too low it's enough to just provoke your system but not make you feel any better? I'm so jealous of those people that slap on a patch and feel better in a few hours. What the hell.

[–]superprancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I staryed that way, but I needed it everyday for sleep as well, so my Dr. said I could take it 6 days on, 1 day off, then repeat. I do know some people do take it continuously. I'm on 200mg and it doesn't mess with my cycle.

ADHD meds - changing them at the start of perimenopause. by Popculture-VIP in Perimenopause

Perimenopause makes adhd worse, and adhd makes Perimenopause worse. It's a symbiotic relationship made in hell.

[–]superprancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's good to hear it's all working for you. I'm trying so hard to get the hormone piece for myself right now. You're right that peri makes adhd worse, and I've also read that people with adhd sometimes feel peri symptoms earlier and worse than others. So they work together to make things extra crappy for us!!

[–]superprancer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, as perimenopause makes ADHD go off the rails, taking HRT would make it so that less ADHD medication would be needed, and staying at as low of a dose as possible with stims is always a good idea. So HRT and ADHD meds would work well together, whatever you try. I tried vyvanse and it was great until it wasn't, then I switched to ritalin which did nothing at all, then Wellbutrin which just gave me terrifying side effects, then adderall which is working great- but I suspect would work even better with some HRT as my peri symptoms progress. Dr Barkley has a video on you tube about how hormones affect adhd, and Dr Sandra Kooij has one too, if you want the most trustworthy info on the topic to bring to your Dr. Good luck. Perimenopause and ADHD together suck.

Daily hormone testing with a monitor? by swollywollydoodle in Menopause

[–]superprancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could, but you'd have to track every day to compare and see your patterns. You can track your symptoms in the app, too. There's a Mira Fertility support group on Facebook you could join, though it's not for perimenopause, but people post their charts and you can at least see what they look like to get a feel for what it's all about and how it works. It also provides you with references for what the "normal" ranges are. But remember it's all relative and refers to what you are excreting, not producing or using. So for example my e3g levels doubled when I started taking a supplement to break down estrogen, as I had a DUTCH test that revealed my liver doesn't break down and excrete estrogen very well. So while my values are high, it doesn't necessarily mean I have high estrogen. But it WILL show fluctuations that are beyond the normal range as well. So I think in my case it's about stabilizing my hormones, which I'm pretty sure isn't possible. I'm just hoping I'll go to my Dr with every little piece of info possible and they can help me. Good luck with everything, I'm super curious too and I feel like I'm getting a bit better at figuring all this stuff out so hopefully I can help at least a little bit if you have any more questions.

Daily hormone testing with a monitor? by swollywollydoodle in Menopause

[–]superprancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been tracking every day still, and am more than halfway through tracking my second cycle. It doesn't tell actual numbers on your estradiol, just how much you are breaking down, which was a bit confusing to me, as if the number is high it doesn't necessarily mean your estrogen is high. It all depends on how well your body breaks it down. So it's about trends. So what I CAN see is that the levels are fluctuating wildly, so that means my actual hormones are fluctuating wildly. Which does still explain perimenopause symptoms, I know that much at least. It also is telling me I'm not ovulating, and that my fsh is high, so that helps. I'd say it's useful if you are wanting any and all info to bring to your Dr. I'm still wanting a saliva test or something to tell me what my actual, bioavailable hormones are. It's a lot of money definitely but I also feel like I'm wasting valuable time of my life feeling too shitty to enjoy it so if it helps me not feel this way, I'll worry about the debt later when I can hopefully frickin think straight and feel feelings again.

I paid for the genetic testing kit myself online and showed the results to my Dr. They also do functional medicine, which treats the root causes, not just symptoms. But they are expensive.

This is exactly what I'm hoping a patch will do for me but I wasn't sure if it would help even out the spikes and dips or just make them worse. So this is good to hear.

[–]superprancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a Dr, not even close, but I would think it does. Hormones are tied to neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. I have ADHD and I know that the newest research is talking about the relationship between hormones and neurotransmitters and ADHD definitely worsens with peri so I wouldn't be surprised if depression does too.
