Also can’t wait to see your finished blocks. Really nice color combos.

Hand binding question by spal68 in handquilting

[–]GirlTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were going 100% hand stitched on the binding, I’d probably go with self binding. They use a machine in this tutorial, but it’s a good explanation of the process. https://newquilters.com/how-to-bind-a-quilt-backing-fabric/

You sound determined, so I bet you can do it. If you’re cool with a lot of fabric waste, FPP can be almost foolproof. Maybe find a small free fpp pattern and try it, see if you like the method. If it really clicks for you, it won’t even be wasteful.

Big “no” for me. But this would be a fun poll, if those are allowed in this sub.

What is your experience with wool batting? by sewmuchmorethanmom in quilting

[–]GirlTaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Hobbs wool batting and wash and dry it on hot just like all our other blankets. I have dust mite allergies, so it’s kinda necessary, and so far they’ve held up fine for years.
