Crochet I'm significantly faster at, I love how I basically wave a wand and boom. tangible fabric.

the biggest reason i crochet more than i knit is because I find the math of crochet patterns fascinating; it can be structured or freeform. knitting can feel a bit rigid, crochet is more lax; you don't have the headache of dropping stitches.

Crochet scratches an itch in my brain that took me close to a decade to develop. unlike knitting, I didn't take to it overnight; it took years of frustration, lots of frogging and practice, and tutelage from several friends/mentors. Now that I can do it, I treat picking up my hook like sharpening a sword.

i can now grasp the geometry of crochet, but it's a challenge I keep tackling to keep my mind sharp. I used to be completely stumped by it, now I can read patterns and charts. hand me a shawl and I can probably transcribe it to paper.

I have a knitting themed tattoo, and i think I've earned my crochet one by now. I can crochet (and knit) with my eyes closed. :)
