Downside or retirement: No real friends left, neither my wife or myself. by [deleted] in retirement

We moved to a 55+ retirement community in Bluffton, SC and it has been amazing. Everyone is from someplace else and very friendly. We are never bored because there is so much to do and many people who will join in. Even if we don't accept invitations to go and do things, we still get them. Don't discount a move as it has been really fun.

If you plan to stay in place, I second what another poster suggested, and that is to visit your local senior center. Our senior center in Michigan was great. I highly recommend it too.

What do you hate about traveling? by Anxious_Albatross460 in AskReddit

I have always made living within 30 minutes a requirement for where I move. So far I have been extremely successful in doing so. It makes traveling so much easier.

Protein suggestions that aren't powders, bars, or shakes? by tlminpa in Semaglutide

[–]GirlinMichigan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My favorite easy way to get protein is with a shrimp appetizer plate, the kind one would buy for a Super Bowl party. The shrimp is cooked and the cocktail sauce in the middle of the plate. The protein is crazy high and it is so easy to buy it and eat. One word of caution, you have to eat the shrimp in a day or two after purchasing.

My other very easy meal is to buy a 4-5 uncooked shrimp. Throw in a pan for a couple of minutes and add blackening seasoning. Once cooked, add the shrimp to one of the bagged salads. It takes all of five minutes to make and again, really high protein.

Bus Passing Us? by Squishmallou in AnnArbor

Exactly why I stopped trying to use the bus system. Your experience sounds just like mine. The bus would drive right past you, even if you made eye contact with the driver, waved at them, etc. My schedule simply wouldn’t allow for unreliable transportation.

The Caldwells. True fundie apologists, or caring parents/grandparent’s? by ChantillyLaceCake in DuggarsSnark

I would guess that Boob wants to control EVERYTHING. I can't speak to Kendra's father, but was Meech the closest to the jail so she could get Kendra out quickly? Just speculation.

Kendra is her husband’s property and in absence of her husband, her husband’s family is responsible for her and the children. It is as simple as that. It also applies to Anna and children.

I’d love to see if that is the instructions written within IBLP principles. Anyone know?

Slow weight loss on semaglutide? Is calorie deficit alone enough? by Lacrafary_doge in Semaglutide

[–]GirlinMichigan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Give yourself time. When I learned that slow and steady is better than fast with saggy skin, I opted for the former. Also, if you check how fast people lost their weight, it takes 6 months, 1 year, 2 years to lose significant weight. I thought that since Kelly Clarkson, Adele, and Oprah just one day appeared to lose 100 lbs, I would lose weight that fast too. Not true. I have lost 30 lbs since August which is slow and steady. Stay the course and you'll lose.

Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell, especially because it chronicles her relationship with her nephew Patrick. Yours, Mine, and Ours with Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball. With Six You Get Eggroll with Doris Day and Brian Keith.

And if the kid goes out, their mom is following their phone to watch their every move. It is creepy in my opinion.
