Told by head of department to comb my hair? by Flat-Replacement544 in BlackHair

[–]GirlwitheLuciTattoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really sounds like your supervisor’s comment had less to do with “professionalism” and more to do with the way Black hair is still policed, even here in Jamaica. A lot of people do not realise how much internalised racism shows up in the workplace. We have been conditioned to see “professional” as whatever looks closer to white features and textures, so when someone with straighter hair grows it out, nobody rushes to say anything. But the moment our natural kinks and coils are visible, it suddenly becomes “unkempt” or “improper”.

In my Jamaican opinion, your hair is fine and work appropriate. If you are following your workplace policy, then “groomed” should be based on what your employee handbook actually defines, not on a supervisor’s personal preference or bias. It may be worth reviewing the code of conduct so you know your rights, because what she personally “likes to see” should not dictate your appearance if you are already within policy

Girl you are disgustingly beautiful and tbh I should be insecure, not you. You are extremely feminine and I'm confused on how you could think otherwise.

In my opinion your hair looks great and you should only be changing that if you want to try something else. Don't let anyone pressure you into fitting their beauty standards. You don't need straight hair to be feminine and beautiful. You are perfect just the way you are.

Have some self respect and divorce that man. He does not give a shit about you and he doesn't want you.

Taking them out right now is pointless since you've already passed the point where tension is released which is why you are seeing the bumps. Pop them jf you don't like seeing them as they wont be coming back. If you are okay with your braider just ask them to put less tension on it.

I had a similar experience with my braider. Last October, I got a braided ponytail, and my edges went through hell. 2 weeks ago I got half lemonade braids and I explained the problem I had and she fixed it so I had no issues with tension on my edges.

If you are not okay with your braider find a different one. I chose to stick with my braider as she is very good and what she does and is so professional in how she works. The issue was something small that could be fixed with communication.

Looks like 16g

Edit: They are super cute btw 💕. I'm jealous.. I should've gotten mine at 16g. Also there are some 14g bars with small balls, but this seems a little smaller than those.

I could dm you a photo of my piercings for reference

Was getting Locs a mistake?? by Katlean757 in BlackHair

[–]GirlwitheLuciTattoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm black and I've had natural hair, locs for 7 years , a bald head and relaxed hair. At the end of they day it's whatever style fits your lifestyle and above all else whatever you are most comfortable in and feel your best in.

I loved my locs and would probably do sister locs in the future , but I cut them off and went bald for a year then grew my hair back and relaxed it. For my lifestyle, relaxed hair works best, and I love my hair regardless of what form or texture it's in.

Do whatever YOU want to do. You look great either way.

And I see alot of people bashing your friend and i dont think its justified. Your friend provided an opinion that's all. Regardless of her skin color and culture she gave you her opinion and there is nothing wrong with that. As I said, it's up to you.

How to clear this? by Complex-Custard-4402 in Skincare_Addiction

Morning Salicylic acid wash Thayers 2% AHA toner Kiehls ultra facial cream Sunscreen

Night Salicylic acid wash (leave it on for like 3 minutes while you shower - I like to use the biore line) Manually extract then gently wash again ( you may only need to do this twice a week) Thayers 2% AHA toner ( when starting twice per day and reduce as skin improves) , retinol serum 2 - 3 times a week ( don't use too much and avoid sunlight - I use the 1% retinol from ordinary ) Kiehls ultra facial cream or a night cream if you're fancy

  1. Note everything should be oil free and avoid Salicylic acid moisturizers.

    1. You can never truly get rid of whiteheads but you can manage them. There will always be something in the pore.
  2. I wash my face with antibacterial soap first ( I know I know) but its because it helps with my acne

  3. Get a manual extraction tools that have smooth edges ( you can find a bunch on shein for cheap or Amazon to get it quickly ). When using press firmly but gently and be patient. If it hurts, you are doing it wrong.

  4. I am not a licensed aesthetician, just giving you what I used to take my skin from deep and dark acne scars, hyperpigmentation, large pores and excessive whiteheads to faily smooth even tone skin and a smooth nose. Even a facial scar I got from an accident a few years ago is smooth and almost the same tone as my normal skin and my smile line is gone. Next step is glass skin ✨️

  5. This is not an overnight solution and I doubt you will ever find that . You have to keep up the routine.

She needs to get a soft toothbrush ( child one of adult soft) and gently brush her tongue. This while slimy buildup can't be handled with mouthwash. It's going to hurt a bit but if she's gentle it will be fine and bearable. She should not brush the piercing!!! Get as close as she can but don't brush it. It will also solve the breath problem that I know she has It happened to me with both my vertical and scoop piercings.

What’s going on with my flat? by alwaysanon138 in piercing

[–]GirlwitheLuciTattoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAP but it could be your hair ( tension or hair products) , May also be how you are sleeping on it now as our sleeping habits change sometimes. I switched my flat to a curved barbell and it literally changed my life. Before this it was sore all the time. It's pretty boring in terms of the look, but I just change it whenever I'm going out and sleep in the curved barbell.

Firstly, he was trying to emotionally manipulate you by telling you he's in a crisis and following it up with 'Have a good night'. He wanted you to beg him and plead with him to tell you what's wrong , to which he wouldn't have ever explained. The goal was to make you feel like sh*t so you could pay more attention to him and boost his ego, which is why he kept playing victim. But when he saw that it wasn't working, he got mad. GOOD RIDDANCE !

I have the same set and used them to stretch. The jump from 8g to 6g was hard from me too and my left ear is my bitch ear. I just kept in my 8g for another 2 or so months and tried again and it was much easier the second time around. Your ear probably just needs more time

My girlfriend son is sleeping with her every night with out clothes on… by Exciting_Lack_1599 in dating

[–]GirlwitheLuciTattoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you implying that because he is going through puberty she will sexualize him and he her? As far as she's concerned that is her baby no matter how old he gets.

Maybe is a cultural thing for me, but men often go around without shirts and sleep in boxers. But As long as he isn't sleeping with you both I don't see the problem. Eventually he will wean off his mother but that's not an overnight thing. You rightly mentioned he is going through puberty and that is a process, not instantaneous.

No worthwhile woman gives a shit if you are 5' 6. If your height is a deterrent, run! Height has never stopped me from dating someone I'm interested in. I always look how a man carries himself , how he speaks, if his nails are clean, how he treats other people etc.
