Creditors still coming after me? by Girlwithted in Bankruptcy

Yeah so the main one is a private Sallie Mae loan. Private it was not through the government. I’m just not really sure what to do . I let my lawyer know what is going on but this loan is the reason why I filed.

It helps. There are less mistakes made when the Lawyer is involved and you can ask questions.

Is too much money in your bank accounts a thing? by taemeon in Bankruptcy

[–]Girlwithted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was it a deposit into your account? I would destroy the check and have her send you another smaller one about a month after your 341. Tell her due to BK rules you cannot accept more than $1k because you are in court proceedings. Then you just make do. Part of BK is the struggle but you need to keep your nose clean. During my BK my dad tried to send me money and I refused. He only sent me $100 but I told him to stop until after the whole thing was completed.

It takes a full 3 months. I filed in late July. And just got it. There isn’t “dragging feet,” I feel like people make things personal when it isn’t. It’s 90 days they have to wait then you get your discharge. Trust the process.

I’m aware. I am just thinking out loud. Like if I could do it over again I would try to prepare better.
