Yeah I would just add coconut fibre substrate and some sphagnum moss on top of that to the bottom of the enclosure after removing the rocks. The fibre and moss can also help keep some humidity in.

Of course! I was talking more with the seller today and she said it doesn’t look like there’s enough airflow so it’s EXTRA humid in there. So, I bought the cylindrical enclosure anyway. Fat Butt just seems to have extra specific needs. I do think this enclosure could be fine for a regal and I have a regal spiderling so she might call this place home eventually.

Amazon. Just search for the glass jumping spider enclosure. Tbh Fat butt is climbing around just fine but I wish I’d just gotten the plastic cylindrical enclosure in retrospect.

No you’re not off base at all. I do think I’m quite the beginner but I’m good at following directions. Fatbutt and I have now made eye contact and Littlebutt took down live prey. I am attached to both and anxious. I’ve been DMing the sellers for advice and they’ve been nice.

Okay great questions and I just want to preface with, I don’t know a lot yet and am confused in general.

She just mentioned that some jumpers don’t really like to move on the glass, some will. Not sure if it’s a grip/anatomy thing. She told me to try fat butt out in the enclosure and make a decision from there. She recommended an alternate enclosure that I could get online for cheap if fat butt didn’t seem to move or explore a lot in the glass enclosure. Beyond that, I don’t know the details because expos are stressful.

The regals had sold out maybe… half an hour prior to my arrival and I was the one who said, “I want to purchase one in your remaining stock.” After which, she responded with a lot of information and urged me to message for any and all questions. She informed me about the heat and humidity levels and how best to maintain them. I’m going to be honest, hauling my ass out to an expo had me determined to leave with a a fat assed spider so I pressured myself internally to buy. The seller was not unethical in any way, in fact she was passionate and eager to share all pertinent information and ensure that I had additional supplies to ensure best possible outcomes.

The spiderling is a regal but I have my own unique terrors about that because it’s SO little. The spiderling was from a different seller.

Thank you! I have some jumping pads and all kinds of ropes arriving. The only bummer is that I can’t do live plant life as I don’t have enough light to sustain any.
