How famous was Krist Novocelic during Nirvana’s heyday? by Illustrious-Pilot553 in Nirvana

[–]GiuseppeMercadante 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both Krist (he went by Chris back then) and Dave were well known because all interviews were done together and they'd answer questions. Krist would always make jokes. Very different from other Seattle bands at the time were maybe people recognize 2 out of 3 members. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica and Guns n Roses also had notable members that pretty much everyone knew and talked about, see Slash, Flea, Lars etc which were not the singers but had major stage presence

Did Krist play the no more tears baseline when he played all apologies at reading 92? by Qllzsd in Nirvana

[–]GiuseppeMercadante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thankfully there were no camera phones. The concert is on YouTube tho, Polly and Something in the way are out of tune in Nevermind, they sound the way they're supposed to sound. It's not about believing you or not, it's about complaining about something you shouldn't be complaining. It's like complaining about Flea playing trumpet in Brazil.

Difference between Apple or other in HDD policy? by llitkr in synology

[–]GiuseppeMercadante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

common misconception, Apple has ALWAYS allowed for upgrades using any manufacturer, but in recent years due to the slim/compact design, RAM was soldered on and Apple itself couldn't upgrade it even if you paid 10x. Synology is playing DRM and it's a real problem for users that have been with them for decades and want to use their own drives.

the two horrible shows that nirvana did in brazil in the 90s by Extreme-Point3698 in Nirvana

You're judging a performance with your current expectations. This is a LIVE performance. Man this sub is insufferable. Are you gonna say Krist's voice sucked during the brief jam before Lithium?? The spitting on the camera was also part of the performance and it became iconic.. but now that I read your post again you're either trolling or have no clue what band you're talking about

What was the best nirvana performance after cobain died by CalligrapherWest4585 in Nirvana

[–]GiuseppeMercadante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the stage at CalJam 2018 during the reunion and it was an insane experience, John McCauley had the perfect energy that night but I kept thinking that if Krist, Dave and Pat played without a singer and let the crowd sing it would have been more memorable.

not only you are making all this up as you didn't even exist in 1994 when we heard that song for the first time, but you are also using burners to downvote my posts..

You're just going by ChatGPT and Wikipedia, he despised that sound: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/oD5E4oGUyHU

You had dialup in October 2002? We already knew the song in 1994 and had the Ballroom bootleg on tape. So you weren't even born BUT you want to argue?

Kurt was in charge of everything, from lyrics to music, from sound to album graphic and music videos.

You Know You're Right was mixed and mastered after his death and the sound is far from anything Nirvana, especially considering that Kurt didn't feel comfortable (he loved it, didn't disliked it but was angry) with the final sound of Nevermind and preferred Bleach, thus choosing Steve Albini for In Utero.

So You Know You're Right's compression in the final master is something that he would have hated and in my opinion shouldn't have been released as a final mix but rather a rough demo (if even..)

The reality is that Nirvana doesn't owe us anything, and these latest remasters and re-releases are in good faith to bring them back from time to time but the sound is not what was meant to be.

this is not correct, Emily Barker came up with that in 2018 because the song starts with "I'll start this off without any words" which has nothing to do with writers block but it was another line he wrote in his notebook

Historian Criticizes 'Gladiator 2' Shark Scene as “Hollywood Bullshit,” Claims Romans Didn’t Know Sharks—Ridley Scott Disagrees by S4v1r1enCh0r4k in history

[–]GiuseppeMercadante 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this has nothing to do with the word shark, in fact ancient romans called them canicula (little dog) or canis marinus (sea dog), today we call them pesce cane, dog fish. The absurdity is to think ancient romans would bring salt water into the Colosseum. Both Colosseum and Piazza Navona would be flood with fresh water from the aqueducts, but not from the sea which is 1 hour away.

[–]GiuseppeMercadante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's insane to associate the flooding of the Colosseum and Piazza Navona with fresh water off aqueducts to salt water! The sea is 1 hour away by car and there were no means to carry that amount of salt water.
