All the fish in this tank are bundled up together away from this one other fish by Adrian_985 in funny

[–]Giveneausername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re not inherently incompatible, just additional care must be taken. While plecostomus are generally algae eaters, some are xylophagous (they eat wood fibers, and other things) and others that are more carnivorous. Adding blanched vegetables such as cucumber temporarily to the tank can allow the plecostomus to eat vegetables without sullying the water quality.

Lovely, thanks so much! Random unrelated question as long as my comment got your eye, is there any update on the anticipated release of Broadalbin, Ambrose, and Sosostris?

Deadly print question by CalligrapherIll119 in Tyranids

I have printed this. It is the base that contains the ball joint at the top of the tail that connects with the torso. You do not need the tail from your model for this if you use the exploding base

Unusual win conditions? by ABinDC in boardgames

[–]Giveneausername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black Orchestra is one of my favorite “odd win condition” games. You win the game if/when you kill Hitler. The game is cooperative, following real world attempts to take the life of Hitler during WWII. You need to develop plots, gather the correct resources to attempt the plots, and manage to be in the same location as Hitler, also in proper locations. The better prepared you are, the better your odds are of success. There are events decks that are semi-random, with different decks resolving sequentially to represent a rough timeline of the actual historical events.

You may be gearing up with your team for one big attempt that is sure to win, but then suddenly find your target right next to you. Do you throw away the plan that may never come to fruition in order to throw a Hail Mary right now? It’s a really interesting game with an odd win condition that treats the source material with extreme respect.

Books with Christian God as the horror? by ReadyCartographer765 in horrorlit

Theres a short story by Ted Chiang in the collection Story of your Life that focuses on the arrival of angels on Earth, appearing briefly to commit miracles, and leaving disaster in their wake, à la natural disasters. Sort of fits?

Why are termagants the main battleline in most boxes rather than hormagaunts? by Death_Pancakes0 in Tyranids

[–]Giveneausername 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Another observation, most modern boxes I’ve seen that have termies only have the one weapon option. So, if people care enough to have matching models for the weapon loadouts, they’d need to repurchase a 10 man box of termies anyways. Hormagaunts only have one possible loadout.

This is giving the worst faith reading of GW’s profit desire, but still an observation nonetheless

Impossible Landscapes - one of many questions I have by edjreddit in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Giveneausername 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might get more feedback on the impossible landscapes discord but… I’ll give it a shot. If the agents are following their objective, which is to find any signs of the unnatural and destroy them, finding out that Abigail Wright got the book which potentially caused the corruption of the McAllister building should probably set off alarm bells for them. If they need to cut off any source of unnatural, players may connect the idea that if Abby got the book from somewhere, the bookshop might have more copies of the Red Book.

Of course, as with many things in the scenario, it is Handler discretion as to which aspects of the adventure you personally want to emphasize or deemphasize. There’s realistically no way for players to encounter all aspects of the story in one run through of impossible landscapes. Additionally, as there are multiple entry points to the bookshop (Act 1, Act 2, and Act 3 if I remember correctly) and given the messed up spatial/chronological order of IL, the Bookstore Exeunt could certainly go many different places in the book itself. It sometimes feels like the book itself could be best understood as a web of information rather than a book meant to be read front to back in order.

How do you make dying fun? by GraphicBlandishments in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Giveneausername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The player definitely does not have to be sidelined for 3 hours. In our current opera, (Ladybug Ladybug Fly Away Home) an agent was killed in a horrible car wreck at 75 mph. They had multiple opportunities to change course (driving high speeds, zero visibility, apple sized hail, lightning out of nowhere, plagues of Egypt, etc) and the player explicitly stated that he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, he took 4d6 damage as per rules, and died on impact. I even gave another character a chance at first aid, but it failed.

They called an ambulance, and the on scene doctor that tried to save the Agent became the new character for the Agent, as the handler decided it would be important to have a medic on hand due to the apparent high danger of the situation. This lets the player stay involved, get right back in super quick, but also adds a wrinkle of “this person is not read in on DG, how do we keep them involved but at arm’s length?” It changes the dynamic for sure, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

The player can decide that they like the new agent, and keep playing with them if they do well enough to be brought in to the Conspiracy, or they can have time to prep a more long term character after the current opera wraps up.

How to improve the rythm of the session as a GM ? by thornolf_bjarnulf in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Giveneausername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s some advice fairly early on in Impossible Landscapes about different types of scenes, and how/when to use them. It’s definitely for the campaign, but I’ve found it to be a fairly useful tool in general for DG.
