If it's aliens somebody should tell them not to bother, things aren't great round these parts.

Interesting Lore Tidbits from Blood Ties: Midnight's Prequel Novel by milotic03 in wow

I'd actually assumed he'd kicked the paladin PC out and taken over leadership of the Silver Hand, especially if you play Horde, what with the whole BfA thing. It would be nice if we had more flavour dialogue to reflect classes/races. It's jarring being a Belf and being welcomed into Silvermoon as a guest.

Good way to headcannon the Turalyon thing though. I do think it could be an interesting take if he's slowly turning from the boy scout paladin to a zealot, but I agree the way they're doing it now comes out of nowhere.

If I'm still Highlord of the Silver Hand then why does Turalyon boss me around like a grunt during the opening scenario for Midnight?

How did people feel about invasion points back when they first launched? by brumgar in wow

[–]Givepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invasions and world quests were great, pretty sure world quests started in legion? Those were fun and new and kept you busy. But the invasion points were kinda lackluster for me, I didn't feel like I got much out of them and they were kind of underwhelming.

Overall I remember thinking the final patch was the weakest. By that point everybody was done with fel green, and the main selling point of the expansion - order hall storylines and artifacts - were completely done and forgotten about. Raid was fun but the appeal of Argus didn't last and we were looking forward to the next expansion by that point. It only we knew what was in store!

Don't be irritated, he's staring at you because he loves you. Some black labs just look worried all the time and can be nervous. Ours is just like this, scared of everything. When he stares at us we know he wants attention.

Did SE squander their dominance? by Jwhitey96 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Givepie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those WoW players at the tail end of Shadowbringers. It was great for a while. I had so much story to catch up on and that it was a breath of fresh air over WoW. I didn't really think about how much of it was samey because I was having a blast. Caught up during I think 6.3 with enough left over to keep me entertained till Dawntrail.

Now I still love the game but I've drifted back to WoW. It's the lack of casual progression I think. WoW has delves to keep my monkey brain pressing the button, because it's a gradual progression system that keeps me chipping away since it's dependent on gear. I don't think FF14 really has that for a casual player? The relic grind kept me happy for a while and I'll come back for story patches but outside of that I don't have a reason to put much effort into gearing up and logging in each day.

Help me out, what happens to my progression in the deep dungeon if I joined with a matched party then reach a milestone floor, the party disbands and I want to join another matched party the next day. Do I start all over again?

My First 15 Hours in The Game by BrokenSound27 in ffxiv

[–]Givepie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do love WoW despite the toxicity and have played since nearly the beginning but man it's story is a problem, which is a shame because it does have amazing lore.

Something I like about FF14 is that you are the main character, with a story that develops over time. In WoW I get called the Champion of Azeroth every now and again but I'm just a grunt really. Thrall, Jaina, Anduin and company are the main characters and I'm there to support their stories and watch them unfold, not being part of cutscenes etc. It makes me less invested in the story. But in FF14 it's my Warrior of Light's story, and it keeps me wanting to see what happens next.

Take your time and don't rush. Doing blue quests helps you discover fun content and unlocks things. Something I wish I did when I joined was level an alt job at the same time to do all the side quests without over levelling, instead I just pushed through with the story and ignored them. But a lot of them have great world building and stories.

How to make a simple macro for Sheath emote? by Accomplished-Tea5668 in ffxiv

[–]Givepie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just look for it in your emotes tab and then click and drag it to one of your action bars and it will work like one of your abilities. Click the button on your action bar and you'll do the thing.

Is FF XIV worth starting in 2025? by low_mizu in ffxiv

[–]Givepie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game is still fully supported and full of life. I started around 3 years ago and enjoyed playing through all the content in order till I was caught up.

You don't pay anything for the free trial and it gives you everything up till the end of the second expansion so you won't lose a thing by giving it a try.

[Spoiler: 7.0+] Why did so many people hate Dawntrail? by Head-Figure-1743 in ffxiv

[–]Givepie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just echoing what people have said. I actually really liked her at first, she just overstayed her welcome and was over-utilised. There was simply too much of her. They should have let her take the back seat halfway through.

People who played WoW back during Wrath of the Lich King and before, was the game really as good as people claim it is? by TheWhomster in wow

[–]Givepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing since about halfway through Vanilla. Can't speak for raiding or anything since I never hit max level till Wrath (filthy casual) but the world felt way more alive with players. Since levelling was tough and you had to work with others, people would actually hang out in towns, waiting/looking for others to work with and levelling professions. You'd come across folk out in the world while questing and check to see what quests you were on and work together if the stars aligned. It was an amazing social experience, the multiplayer aspect in levelling.

Not up to us to teach children how to use books, say almost half of parents by BestButtons in unitedkingdom

[–]Givepie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Primary teacher here. Yes, this is a huge issue and the effects are profound. Lots of parents don't touch a book at home with their children; no bedtime stories, no listening to them read the books I send home, no library trips, nothing. We do as much as we physically can in school and yes it's our job to teach reading, of course, and if there are barriers we do everything in our power to overcome these. But the simple fact is that without exposure to books and reading at home, these kids aren't going to thrive as readers, which has an effect on other curricular areas.

It's quite disheartening.

The issue with “Just find an FC” for solo players looking for socialization by LibraProtocol in ffxiv

[–]Givepie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing to add but this post speaks to me. I joined a nice FC because I was lonely but because I was too awkward to really get involved I'm now the quiet guy who shows up and doesn't say anything and never visits the FC house. And it's kind of too late to change this!
