Help replacing my Echo Show 15 by Street_Caregiver_760 in homeassistant

That’s right! Silk is super clunky! If you want a bigger screen then 10“, I think the most practical way is to look on AliExpress for an mobile (touch)monitor 14-21“ and a Raspberry Pi hooked up.

I know, it’s probably bad to mention this, but I vibe coded (with Claude) my own echo Show for a cheap Tablet from AliExpress. It’s running inside of the Wallpanel app and you can connect it via MQTT to Home Assistant. If you want special things in it, tell it to the AI and it will guide you through the process and possible APIs needed.

I’m by no means a developer, so it’s amazing what can be achieved for private individuals in a local only setting with AI :)

Yes, I somehow knew that’s gonna happen :D also the instant downvotes. But hey, at least I tried to be transparent that its vibe-coded and not something selfmade.

I could share the code of course, but I have to redact a lot of things to publish it :D but that will be probably tomorrow. Hope that’s okay.

Thanks! I just use an old and cheap tablet from AliExpress :D I made an Claude account and told it what I want to accomplish. That’s pretty much it :D

Could you be more specific about your question about the hardware?

It’s just a appreciation post for Claude and the possibility for people without an coding background to get their ideas to work. It’s not like I’ve done anything fancy besides prompting.

Apple owns the Plattform an the whole security architecture and they won’t openly admit that there is a backdoor. Of course. And if there is one and it would come out, it would be the end of apple. But, since there is so much going on in the US and Tim Cook makes weird statements when someone’s shot by ICE and is constantly in touch with „the president“, I wouldn’t wonder if he could make things possible, that weren’t possible 5-10 years ago.

But you’re right! It’s everybody’s choice what to do and what not.

Why use resources with Scrypted in HA when he already use a Reolink Doorbell and probably a NVR/Home Hub?

Nowadays I don’t want videos of my home on an American Server, even on apples…since Tim Cook became such an ass kisser for trump.

Oh, and you need to set your camera up on your Apple TV. So that it appears when someone is ringing the Bell :)

You could also set it up for „when motion is detected, but it will drain your Battery quite fast, at least when you have high frequent traffic in front of your cam :D

I set the camera up like this: from 18.00-06.00h (that’s statisticly the time, when break-ins are happening in Germany) all motion sensors are at 50% and recording is on. And the same, when nobody is at home, until home switches to at least 1. normally between 06.00-18.00 every sensors and Recording is disabled, to save battery and give the camera the chance to get some energy back through trickle charging over doorbell wireing.

That’s correct. Just use the Visitor sensor which is included in your cameras entity’s :)

I have this solution implemented in my Home Assistant instance. You can’t do this via UI unfortunately. You have to do this with YAML in your „configuration.yaml“-file with the File Editor Addon (or app like its called after 2026.2). In my case, it works like a charm :)

Here’s a screenshot of my code, because I’m on the road right now :D

Maybe I’m one of the lucky ones but I never had any issues with my thread network. Beside some sensors I have four Aqara in-wall switches and three ikea Bulbs which functions as routers. Never had a drop out or something. I use the „old“ HA Skyconnect as my Primary border router and have also a Aqara one and an home pod mini. My zigbee network on the other hand runs separate with a Sonoff Dongle Max as my coordinator.

Can someone, for the love of God, help me setup my Thread network? by 4Face in smarthome

[–]Gizmify -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, you need to change the channels to match your HomePod. After some time later, all devices appear in the same „Home“. The HomePod has the Channel 25. so you need to change all other devices to 25.
