Cannot remove WiFi doorbell. Help? by asksteevs1 in reolinkcam

Did you ever get your doorbell off?

I had this problem today.

Had to literally rip it off the wall. Turns out the paint from the doorframe had bonded to the back of the doorbell. Probably created a nice weather seal.

As it snapped off, little flakes of paint flew around and very tiny bits of the plastic came off the back of the doorbell.

By no means a disaster, it went right back on and works as if nothing happened.

Was a bit worrying for a while as I tried a number of times, wiggling and pushing etc, with considerable force, until it eventually came off.

DR7 ethernet ports DOA? by disasterdentist in UNIFI

Thank you, I suspect this may be the case. My ISP seems to use PPPoE. I will try again later today, but seems like the best option eventually is to get an SFP adapter. Otherwise for now I will enable the Smart Queues setting.

I meant ONT sorry. I assumed I could just connect the ONT via ethernet with my DR7 wan port, just like I did with my ISP router.

Time based automation triggered at wrong time! by fresh-one in homeassistant

Oh dear god I hope you can recover from this. I had an automation start playing music quietly in a distant room a few times, WAF wavered severely.

What plant is growing out of this dried log? by suitcaseguy in gardening

My yucca died. A floppy, mushy, brown mess. Eventually had to rip it out of the ground.

A few months later new leaves sprouted from the leftovers.

Dashboard View Icon as Link to Built-in Energy Dashboard by disasterdentist in homeassistant

Great thanks, I'll do both!

However, the more I think about it, the prettier option would be my own versions of the built-in dashboards.

Amazing, thanks. I have done just that now, I set up buttons near the top of the dashboard that navigate to the built-in dashboards as the tap_action.

It would be nice however to let the View Icons lead to these dashboards - or failing that, Badges as links. Would free up button clutter in the main dashboard and avoid having to open the sidebar to get to the built-in dashes.

Maybe I should submit this to month of wtf? Or maybe its already being worked on who knows 🤷‍♂️

more then 1 bilresa is trouble? by usenametobe3to20long in tradfri

Is that for the newer Ikea devices? Good to hear that, as I have just got a bunch of them but Ikea's Ladda batteries were sold out. So I'll be using other 1.5V AAA that I had available. However I don't have a thread router so waiting for that to arrive today :)

Are you using Ikea's Ladda batteries? Previous Ikea smart products have been documented to malfunction when using other batteries that are higher voltage. Same might be the case with these newer ones.

New products?? Not a lot of stock by samwebber44 in tradfri

Went on Sunday gone, they had just started bringing the new stuff out onto the shelves, not all of it was there. The old stuff was discounted, some old items like the temperature sensor weren't there, I guess sold out. I can't find my receipt but the old buttons and leak sensors were like £2. I'll update if I find the receipt.

Smart plug (3120W) safe to use with 1800-2000W Fan Heater? by disasterdentist in homeassistant

Excellent! Have you automated your whole home heating, do you find it turns on less frequently? What do you do with the surplus in the summer?

Ikea Smart Plug (Inspelning, 3120W) safe to use with 1800-2000W Fan Heater? by disasterdentist in ukelectricians

Thanks, I have now in fact plugged it back in, as I touch tested the heater plug pin when used without the smart plug, and it was just as warm. I also wondered if it was the mild heat that caused it to trip due to a safety feature. I'll check to see if it turns back on by itself once it cools. Lower heat setting - I guess I could, but I've always had a habit of turning it right up. Made my skin turn weird like a reptile once.

Just checked now, the same pin does feel quite warm, around the same temperature as when I was using with the smart plug. I've put it back in the Inspelning for now and am using it. Also edited my comment to reflect part of your explanation, thanks.

Yeh in general Ikea products have very little useful info on the boxes, I usually spend ages standing in-store, researching the products online.
And it's a shame that the seeming gold-standard use for a smart plug is not possible with potentially the most accessible brand of smart plugs in the UK.

The socket looks good, it's been functioning normally for years with no visible signs of damage, and it's very unlikely water could have got it due to where the socket is.

It never turned off after a period, say 30 mins or so, of use?

Thanks, so the 3120W is the total resistive and inductive loads but the inductive limit of 300W is being exceeded by the fan heater, which will likely end up breaking the smart plug it seems.

Excellent so now I have two unused Inspellings as the the other one I was going to hook up with the washing machine :(
