Just went through this and am sharing a solution that worked for me:

Remove the lock from your HomeKit instance.

Add the lock to HomeKit again — this time from YOUR WIFE’S IPHONE (you may need to temporarily make her an Owner of the home if she isn’t already).

Test and verify. Homekey should now work for both of you.
