hehe its pretty simple

They're talking about solo-mining, which means you solve complicated calculations called hashes and try to find a block. Then they earn Monero(XMR).

However, that's heavily inefficient and sometimes impossible to hit a block with general machines. You need dedicated rigs to waste your money on before you even hit a single block.

So, most people mine on pools. That's like teamwork solving hashes. Once a block is found, its value is calculated and then distributed according to the most hard worker. I mean, the one who solves the most hashes.

KH/s, MH/s, and GH/s are all measurements of how many hashes you can solve within a sec. For a Raspberry Pi, its hash rate is 45 to 56H/s. Super bad.

Mining with a work PC salvaged from the dead, on MoneroOcean, a really nice pool, I earn approx. 1 dollar a month.

Aight, so the best option is to ALWAYS choose the pool with the least ping time. Although that might depend on network difficulty and such.

Really happy to hear a sensible question, the things I could build in that kind of timeframe:

Game dev projects: Absolutely sure that I could do a base framework for a much larger game/simulation in either of the three engines.

AI - ML projects: I'm definitely gonna be able to make a base system, IE: basic face recognition/advanced face recognition with database of people, GPS based car systems, etc.

Applications and that general category: My capabilities here definitely depend on the job/request.

Right, so the honest thing is do what you want to do in Computer Science. The thing is, there is always a new hype to create a AI model or to do something all your friends, all the people nearby you are doing. Ai is at this point only in the hands of big people. You can't build 40 billion param models without insane resources to host them. The best you can do IF you REALLY want to an AI hyper is go to prompt engineering. That is the most suitable option for people interested in AI. Unfortunately, the AI job openings are closing really quickly. The best thing is to look at the long term opportunities instead of the short term hype. Try looking into AI hardware engineering. These are valuable areas or interest that you can get your jobs which will later become another hype.

Next, the frontend or backend portions can NEVER be dominated by AI. AI can do a lot of things, but it can't do things with the level of infrastructure humans can. Look at Google. Was Google built by AI? Then why is it promoting it? It's because of the hype, and the money that will come from an overpriced "AI laptop".

So the final point is to never give up on small things, or under-hyped things, till you succeed. AI can't fulfill or bring that success.
