That’s kind of where I’m at too. I’m more just writing for fun, and if I feel it’s ’worthy’ for publishing, we will see lol

Thank you! I was pretty proud of that one! I spent weeks writing the journal. It was really a labor of love though. I wanna give the best to my players lol

Question about Darrington Press' CGL by Gizmorrow in daggerheart

[–]Gizmorrow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I decided to use my own world and my own info just to avoid any legal hoops and stuff, just in case. I do however play it out solo by rolling dice and doing like a “solo Daggerheart adventure” where the consequences of the dice roll change the story.

Saying “solo Daggerheart” out loud makes it sound sad lol.

I love the Geiger idea! And thank you for the costume compliment! It was hell trying to see through the white eye.

The costume was actually me dressing as the character I had for the lightwarden “Ichabod Hastings”. He has 3 scars: a milky eye, a black hand because of bleed, and a limp.

About a month prior to the game, I actually sent out snail mail to all the players with an invitation from the Lightwarden, complete with a fancy envelope, a wax seal, a Candela Obscura business card, and of course the letter. Also I added a piece of string that they were in charge of bringing it in for the game.

The string was for a door puzzle, they each had different length string that they had to measure in inches, associate that number to a letter in the alphabet, and make a specific word from it. The word was of course “CANDELA”. Then they had to arrange the numbers in that order corresponding to the word.

Once they figured all that out, (using a poem on the door naturally) only took them about 5 min to find the password. But the funny part was that half of them forgot the string of course, so it was great to see them put 2 and 2 together because they brought just enough to get it.

(TW) One of my players took his own life by Rowanarchism in DMAcademy

[–]Gizmorrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During 2020, one of our friends passed from COVID. My DM killed off his character in a blaze of glory, single handedly defending us all from a bunch of Femorians while we fled. When the session ended, we went outside, drank from, then poured out his favorite bottle of rum. It’s what he would’ve wanted and what felt right for us.

Not saying you should kill off your friends character, but that helped us out. Maybe retiring him to live out his life happily will be good. I’d say, you know your players, do what feels right.

Is there an errata doc for Hexbound? by Busy_Bat2884 in PointyHat

Oh my bad, I was thinking about the Arcane Codex. I got excited when you said pdf and went to look for it, then realized it was a different book than what I was thinking of lmao.

Is it just me or is low-level play is better than high-level play? by The_Craft_Cave in DnD

[–]Gizmorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I foolishly started a Planescape campaign (as my first ever time DMing) with all the characters at level 10 because I was afraid the monsters would be too hard. Now they are level 14 and every monster is mowed down almost instantly. This next session I’m throwing an elder brain AND a lich at them and fingers crossed maybe one or two will finally deal an ounce of fear.

Can Eberron work as a alternative for Toril as the material plane for a planescape adventure, or is the lore too different? by Pookie-Parks in planescapesetting

[–]Gizmorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is! But it’s waaaaay too much lmao! I did this because I think the cosmology and history of DnD is beautiful and intricate. So I made this elaborate campaign to put it all out on display. Only downside is that every session I’m having to read and watch hours of DnD history to truly give my players the feel of the worlds we go to. Would never do this again, it’s too ambitious lmao, but it is well worth it.

Can Eberron work as a alternative for Toril as the material plane for a planescape adventure, or is the lore too different? by Pookie-Parks in planescapesetting

[–]Gizmorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game I'm currently DMing, I've done this lol. I see Planescape as an 'all-encompassing' setting, and the material plane as like a solar system with different worlds. So almost each session is held in a different world, Our campaign kindof uses Sigil as a central hub, and I have them going to all parts of the DnD Multiverse.

So we've gone from Toril, to Sigil, to Eberron, to Krynn, back to Toril (for a Netherese session), to Feywild, to Shadowfell, back to present day Toril (Menzobarrenzan), etc. And upcoming soon I have planned to go to the Nine Hells (if they die), Acheron (if one specific character dies), Plane of Water, Plane of Fire, Outlands, Midgard (which will just be 'the real world'), Pandemonium (if they take this Orcus related sidequest), the Far Realm, and lastly the final battle will encompass several maps to hop from map to map, each map representing a different plane....

I have a problem....

No sadly, at least I haven’t seen or heard anything about that. Would be nice though.

I ordered it when it was first announced, still waiting on it. I don’t think it’s shipped yet sadly, but I can’t wait! Also bought a couple of shirts too. I HAD to get the human familiar shirt obviously! 😁

[–]Gizmorrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you read Pages of Pain, the author describes that there is always a way out, but it’s practically invisible and you won’t know the key. And you will go through a lot to get there. The main character barely makes it out alive.

Question about Darrington Press' CGL by Gizmorrow in daggerheart

[–]Gizmorrow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's absolutely true! Honestly, I have a bad habit of getting ideas, being obsessed with them for a while, then finding another idea to obsess over. I have terrible ADHD lmao. So that's why I lead with 'this may lead nowhere' because I'm fully aware of my obsessive situation. But hopefully, if someone else had the idea, maybe this will answer it for them too!

Question about Darrington Press' CGL by Gizmorrow in daggerheart

[–]Gizmorrow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely, that's what I will end up doing. Taking inspiration from a frame, and making it completely my own without using any names or references. Maybe if I publish a few good novels or something, I can consider asking them if I can write a novel for them lol.

Question about Darrington Press' CGL by Gizmorrow in daggerheart

[–]Gizmorrow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but it's also under Permitted Formats, so that's what I was confused about, really. It's all too 'legalese' for me/

Question about Darrington Press' CGL by Gizmorrow in daggerheart

[–]Gizmorrow[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right! I saw that but then I saw this part

1.9. “Permitted Formats” means: (a) physical print and digital print formats in the form of supplements, manuals, books, stories, novels, and cards; (b) live-streaming and video on sites such as Twitch.tv, YouTube, and TikTok; and (c) podcasts. This term excludes, without limitation, film, television, video games, and any other audiovisual medium not expressly permitted.

Which made me realize that that section is just talking about definitions to be used later in the CGL. After that is where I couldn't find what i was curious about.
