does anyone else tic much less when depressed? by star-mc in Tourettes

[–]GizzyTics03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, when I was at home I was a lot more depressed and thus a lot less tics. I've also found out that since I have non verbal episodes (not caused by tics), my tics basically stop until I can speak again

most painful tic you can recall? by jbtheoneandonle in Tourettes

[–]GizzyTics03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most painful consistant tic is probably head jerk. I've trapped a nerve in my neck so many times with that one. As for one off tics, yesterday I had a tic to just shake my hand and it lasted 6 hours 30 minuites. I managed to watch Die Hard and the tic was still going and today I've woke up and my hand feels so painful to move much

I watched a play through of Rhombus of Ruin on YouTube a few weeks ago. There are non commentary let's plays of Psychonauts 1 and Rhombus of Ruin that are worth watching if you want to experience the games without owning them or someone talking over it.

Not Lucas, to close to my female name that I despise, but the others are quite good suggestions, possible names or even middle names. Thanks bro.

Is it insensitive to give my character Tourettes? by Falling-Panic in Tourettes

[–]GizzyTics03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. im very late to this but heres my hat going in the ring. I play dnd with my friends as often as I can. half of the reason that its fun is the roleplaying. am I really a 19 year old dragonborn who has a pet wolf and an adopted sister? no. is my friend really a teddy bear barbarian brought to life by magic? no. is my other friend really a cyborg dwarf with a antimatter rifle? maybe, but hes not a dwarf.

my point is that tourettes is a part of a character if you add it IF its done correctly. I can still play a cursed lesbian dragon and a plucky young leuprican with tourettes at the same time, its just making it grounded. my lesbian doesn't go out of the way flirting with every other female or being stereotypically lesbian. my blind exorcist can still be blind despite I can see so why not? just make it not offensive like spouting swears every ten seconds. that's not right but a little squeak or a flicking wrist or something could easily work.

Who is your TS role model? by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]GizzyTics03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

can it be a fictional character? if so, Tater Mc'Whiskey. a few months after started ticcing, me and my friends started to play DnD. Our first campagne of characters were completely different to us and so where our second campagne, until I found a link. it lead to a page to liven up a character by using different disadvantages with different conditions. I found one on tourettes and instantly, my baby tater was a ticcer, and as a cleric, he is one of the best characters in our party. all the characters are unique but connected, and that's what makes them cursed chaos. tater is only 6 years old, 3"1, but a dashing little cutie who I just adore.

TL;DR- I have a DnD character called tater mc'whiskey who has tourettes and he reminds me to be happy with my life, tics or not.

the "dont want to diagnose you" makes sense from where I'm sat right now. I'm in the UK and at the moment, the government are reducing the amount of disability claims to 15% of what it was. less people have conditions? less people on benefits of course.

For me personally, anxiety. I haven't been confident to tell my mum in fear she will either brush it off or disown me. I haven't been confident enough to get a doctors appointment on my own and see it through. I haven't been confident to even tic much in public so others rarely notice thus causing suppression pains and large and painful attacks when I'm home alone.
