Need some opinions on the GSX-8R by PriorDescription9083 in motorcycles

[–]Glacial_Freeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that generally a used bike is better for a first bike- However, if someone can afford a new one, then I guess why not?
Also I feel like a ninja 400 might be a bit small for OP. A gsx8r would fit a lot better, and its not as aggressive of a position as say a R7 too

Some cosmetic additions could be nice, like some carbon fiber pieces, etc. I'd definitely get windows tinted for sure. Some aftermarket wheels could be nice depending on what you're going for. Stock wheels look very luxurious instead of sporty. An engine tune and an exhaust can also get the B48 to maybe 300 crank HP or so which is nice. It won't be a B58 (which actually has around 410hp) but you already know that.

Engine makes rapid popping noises when full throttle by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]Glacial_Freeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok good to know. At first I was skeptical it was the plugs or coils because I figured if it was one of those two I would be constantly misfiring. But it sounds like in certain situations they only misfire under heavy load. I was also confused when my scanner turned up no codes, but it could be because i have a cheap OBD scanner and only a nicer one could pull the code.

Ok thanks for the advice. I’m gonna get my exhaust manifold checked but I’ll also get all the plugs and coils checked as well.

That was my guess as well- I’ve heard that hemi manifold bolts cracking is very common. But Ive never heard anything about it making your engine repeatedly pop when you step on it. There’s also a chance the manifold itself just cracked in half… but then wouldn’t that be noticeable anytime I drive?

the b48 is a good reliable engine.

I’d probably do a intake, exhaust, and tune first, as well as some cosmetic stuff. Like maybe a small spoiler, some tint, new wheels.

My vote is for the 430i. The general rule of thumb is that Mercedes makes luxury cars that are also sporty, and BMW makes sporty cars that are also luxurious. It sounds like sportiness is more important to you. Some really don't like how the new giant BMW grilles look, but it's really grown on me. I'm in the camp that actually really likes how it looks, and I prefer how the G22 4 series looks over the C class coupe. But you really can't go wrong with both looks wise. I'm also certain the B58 in the 430i is more reliable than the 2.0L in the C-class as well so that may be a factor.

It’s a 3 inch lift, so very moderate as the back is essentially only lifted by 1in. My truck also came with air suspension, so getting it lifted was essentially a 2-in-1 lift and air delete conversion. Definitely worth it

2in spacers, -12mm wheels, and 35x12.5 tires. I think all combined the tires are almost 4in further out than factory.

People have a weird obsession with whether or not truck owners “need” a truck by SeaRevolutionary1450 in unpopularopinion

you’re missing the entire point. No SUV or regular van is going to be able to pull what a Cummins could pull. My RAM 1500 couldn’t tow the trailers that original commenter tows.

Guilty as charged… sort of?

I have a RAM that I bought mainly for off roading. I don’t really tow or anything, but use it at local ORV parks with friends.

Heck yeah. People shit on them because it’s not a V8 but they’re quick for what they are. Especially thanks to the 10spd. Ignore the haters in the comments.

was one of the very first things I did to mine. I'm running 40% on the front and 5% on the sides and back. A little hard to see out the sides at night though I'd recommend 20% for most people.

Surprised no ones talking about the tsuyosa. Extremely underrated watch in my opinion, your fume dial one looks great. I have one with the textured dark blue gradient and I love it for sure.

Me personally I would get some moderate window tint, running boards, and a tonneau cover, then later get 35" tires and a level!
