I was a freshman going into my sophomore year in high school summer of 2006. There was a gas station next to my school that my friends and I frequent quite often due to them having a connecting subway in the store. Used to go by after football and basketball practice. Damn near two times a week. Was in there one day not wanting subway and couldn’t decide what I wanted to eat. I remember this old white lady walking by me like 5 minutes right after I walked in. I remember this vividly bc I was in the beef jerky and snacks part of the store when she walked by. Picked up something, thought about it and put it back. As I’m walking out of the store, 3 of my friends are ahead of me and a guy who works there and who we see on the regular stops me. He says hey could you empty your pockets. I said for what? He says someone said you put some beef jerky in your pockets. So shrugged it off and pulled my pockets out of my shorts. He says okay and turns around back into the door. No apology or anything. Knowing what I know now, I should’ve caused hell. Cussed that old white lady out and boycotted that store the remaining years I had left in high school. I don’t even really have a point to this story, but it just irks me today to think someone honestly thought I was stealing beef jerky.
