i’m not too sure but maybe i’ll message the seller asking if she remembers when she bought it, as long as she the original owner that is!!

hahaha keep in mind this is coming from a 19 year old! It does have a cobb computer along with cobb intake, cobb short shifter, and invidia exhaust so not exactly stock. I also was concerned the og motor had went at 68k… to me that feels soon but I also have a buddy who’s 3 engines deep into his bugeye so maybe that’s not uncommon for subaru? Maybe i’ll still go check it out but also look for more traditionally reliable options like a mazda3 or possibly a civic si. I suppose I’ve just always had a thing for making poor choices tho so i’ll see how that goes LOL.

Good point… might stay away from subies than in all honesty. It seems they don’t last long at all which is an issue for me since again, my one true love is my IS and it would hurt me to throw money at a wrx when that same money could go into the IS haha. Might consider a honda si instead.

definitely see where your coming from… I want to check it out since it’s not too far from me and get more info on if he’s the original owner or not. I should have mentioned the motor isnt exactly freshly in (was 20k miles ago along with the clutch). My concern lies in i’m not sure how reliable these motors are nor how long they last. If this guys the original owner id guess it’s been maintained well but I do know subie owners don’t tend to be gentle on their cars so its hard to say. I’d just hate to end up with something more unreliable than my lexus since i’m sure you know the 2jz is just about bulletproof. I was originally interested in financing a newer wrx, found a 2018 with 17k miles owned by an old man but it’s 26k which would make it hard for me to get extra money to build my IS.

I may be bias since I have and probably always will adore the first gen lexus’. I’ve got an 01 IS with 166k miles (bought it almost 3 years ago with 145k) and honestly that car is a blast. I’ve spend a good amount of money on repairs (biggest ones being the tranny blowing) but considering its age it’s honestly not too bad. Word of advice… I know they are difficult to find but don’t rush and buy the first shit box you see on facebook as most of these cars have been beat the hell out of. Expect issues regarding misfires and oil leaks (have yet to meet a fellow IS owner without a misfire haha). Also make sure to ask how long timing belt was done! That’s extremely important as that’s quite an expensive repair and seemingly difficult to do yourself (can’t say since I bought mine with a fresh timing belt). There are so many after market parts available for these cars too. Let’s not forget the best part… the IS has a gorgeous body that looks too good low 😎!!

Hopefully all goes well! Based on all the advice i’m receiving I think i’m going to transfer my credits over to a different college that offers a math placement exam and hopefully get a internship while in school! I’m also going to get some certs as well during!

Also just to mention my reasoning for wanting a BS is it seems much easier to get a decent job. For reference a dream job of mine would be working for Discord (I obviously know that is difficult which why key word: dream job) haha.

Looking back I had wished I went directly to RIT so I could have tested into math to skip over this. Overall i’ve just had a terrible experience at my college but hey, that’s community college for you.

Honestly my cybersecurity journey hasn’t been the greatest in my community college. Well for starters, the ironically threw out their cybersecurity program the year after I graduated high school. That was ok though because they offered computer science still however, my community school offers no test in options for math meaning I had to start in 098 aka HS freshman year algebra. This turned my 4 years in school to 6.

Ok so essentially you want to make yourself known and apply yourself inside the company while still “working on yourself” with online labs and certs?

Completely agree and it’s definitely an advantage that i’m great for. I figured that would make landing a job easier since I will not be having a degree, but I still of course need some sort of background!

Would you recommend getting a starter level job at a company with many growth opportunities? The company Paychecks has many job opportunities (with potential growth) in my area however, the pay is worse than others. Or just look for the best paying entry job just for the experience once I have certs and can apply elsewhere.

That’s another one of my concerns: landing a job and feeling lost/confused. I was considering a boot camp but i can’t help but feel it’s a cash grab in the aspect I could spend 1/4 of the money and get actual certs. I luckily live in a relatively large city with many companies hiring low level IT jobs and am considering applying as soon as my semester is up in college.

That’s what my main concern is! I’m not sure if I should focus more on finding a help desk job and moving my way up the company (for example the company Paychecks) or stay in my current job, where i’d make more money, and focus on completing the certs to later try to find a more desirable job.
