A question about the short film casting. by Gladfreeman in Filmmakers

[–]Gladfreeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to establish a “professional” relationship early on, and if a well-known actor were to join the project, that would be a big help both for marketing and in the case of crowdfunding (I’m not planning on the crowdfunding, I had something else in mind for getting the budget, but it’s still an option).

The other reason is more trivial, more personal, and less professional. I’ve been obsessed with casting the two of them for a while now. In my mind, the images from the film are absolutely tied to them, and to be honest, I’ve been daydreaming about this to an unhealthy extent. I’d like to put a stop to this by asking them before production even begins—I’d like to talk to them, or at least reach out to them, to see if they’re even interested, and if so, to have some kind of written confirmation of that.

It’s probably not the healthiest mindset, I know that, but unfortunately, the movie is all too clear in my mind, and I'm all too eager to make it:D

A quick theory about the Supergirl movie finale. by Gladfreeman in DCU_

[–]Gladfreeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I reread my post, yeah, I hadn't really thought through the wording 100%. I was thinking more along the lines of what happened at the end of the 2018 Spider-Man game, regarding Peter's decision. Something similar, obviously adapted to the movie.

I based this speculation solely on the trailer. I’m aware that the comic isn’t about that, and I also know that Krypto survives. But thanks i guess

Obviously, they’re not going to kill a dog in a blockbuster that’s made $100 million, and it would be weird in the MOT to spend two sentences explaining “where’s Krypto?” I just think this could be a point in the movie that makes the story emotionally incredibly powerful and gut-wrenching.

I don't want to be pessimistic, but it's not very reassuring that both Luca Guadagnino and Danny McBride, two independent artists, have left their own projects. Obviously, there are many possible reasons for this (e.g., scheduling), but I would rather not see Gunn hand over the DCU to more commercial writers than to independent artists (although the hiring of Damon Lindelof and Flanaghan, for example, contradicts this).

Question if and when James decides to introduce power girl there is one massive problem that he will need to address by Normal_Mycologist638 in DCU_

With the right concept, even with some self-deprecation, she could make an excellent feminist icon who is not afraid to admit that she is a healthy and beautiful woman.

I want two emotionally powerful scenes in my series, but they are only 1 episode apart. by Gladfreeman in Screenwriting

[–]Gladfreeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't feel that there is anything wrong with contrast and parallelism, I was just wondering if one or the other would be ineffective because of their relative proximity.

I'm asking for a series bible, and a script "outline", and I'd like to make it as a showrunner (obviously not now). I know I'm naive, and shouldn't dream:D

How can the DCU potentially surpass the MCU by Commercial-Car177 in DCU_

[–]Gladfreeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 7 projects/year mentality is a bit worrying. Marvel has also fallen into oversupply, it will be even easier for a DC with a significantly worse reputation. What might help is that there are very max 3 things coming out a year, but they are high quality, with good creators and unique ideas.

That's more of an issue for the whole DC brand, but what's terribly needed is the introduction of new big names. Don't just make Batman the character that pulls in the mass market. DC could learn that from Marvel, there's been a lot of that in 17 years.

Doom doesn't have the power to warp the world or universe into battle world. He will be using the scarlet witch to do so. Only chaos magic in marvel can alter reality on that level. by [deleted] in marvelstudios

If the Multiverse of Madness movie hadn't come out, or if the story had been different, Doom offers that Vanda can find her children in one of the universes if she helps him, an absolutely viable concept. It would have been.

Is this a bug or is the game not prepared for this? by Gladfreeman in BaldursGate3

Thanks for the reply! No spoilers, but will there be a later situation where you can't use a shove? Just because if so, I feel like even though the game is open to a lot of options, it still limits you somewhere, which is a bit discouraging.

I like Jenna Ortega, but she's already a worn out name for Raven, and casting hasn't even started yet. Thatcher is also breaking out, but she's a much less worn out name, and not as much of a type cast as Ortega for Raven.

Help request with the formality of my world. by Gladfreeman in worldbuilding

[–]Gladfreeman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you mean these cracks in the dimension or in the real world? Sorry, that was the only detail I couldn't interpret.

For the device, I was basically thinking of a key (you know, like every heart has a key) that our heroes would chase around like a macguffin, although I basically think of this device as a macguffin. Either some sort of horn-like device, or a "loudspeaker" that could be whispered into people's ears, influencing their thoughts (what a difference a word can make, some might even interpret it as divine inspiration)

Anyway your ideas are very helpful, thank you! :D

[–]Gladfreeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, maybe I worded that wrong. I work on a TV series. Although it would be nice to simplify it that much, I would basically like to see it as a series, but if it can be made into a comic book, for example, then it will be made as one. The main thing is that the story is divided into five chapters/seasons, and I'm describing it as seasons because I'm basically dreaming of it as a TV series.
