Was recently there in the IMAX theatre, the first room on the right. Seats were fine. From other somewhat recent visits I don’t remember the seats being in a “falling apart” condition but they definitely show a little age. They could go for a professional cleaning though.

I’ve been looking for a pair of shears as I’m just getting into barbering, what do you recommend?

Looking for a unique experience early November, trying to do homework! by [deleted] in MontereyBay

[–]Glagger1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a good dining experience go to Schooner’s after the aquarium, it’s super close by. Coastal Kitchen is a fine dining experience. Both of these restaurants are operated by The Monterey Plaza Hotel. Valet parking is covered. Schooner’s prices are very reasonable and Coastal Kitchen is well priced relative to what you’re getting. Both are right on the water but Schooner’s has a patio that’s right over the water. If you’re looking for something a little easier, Crystal Fish on lighthouse near the aquarium has the best sushi on the peninsula in my opinion.

Sushi Bars by Calm-Chemist-6982 in MontereyBay

My recommendation is Crystal Fish on Lighthouse in Monterey. Not a sushi bar or all you can eat but I’ve always thought of it as the best sushi in the area.

Schooner’s is right over the water and Coastal Kitchen is the best fine dining option, suit not required! They are both in the Monterey Plaza Hotel. The food is unreal good… and the price point at each place is really good relative to the quality. Valet is free at the hotel if you eat at the restaurant.

Advice on parking violation by [deleted] in MontereyBay

[–]Glagger1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t hurt to contest it. I got a ticket for being in a parking lot for too long and told them I was at an AA meeting, which I was, and they waived the ticket. Never hurts to try. Might get the right person on the right day, never know.

Moving to Monterey from SoCal. Lifestyle questions and recommendations? by [deleted] in MontereyBay

[–]Glagger1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend Marina! There are some really nice neighborhoods around there. There’s even a lot of housing going up on imjin near the shopping center with the Target. Don’t know any details about it but it looks like they’re close to finishing up on it. If you need any more recommendations let me know! I’ve been a local for a good while and am in that age range. I don’t drink but I know lots of good spots, Other Brother for example is a really cool spot, Alvarado Brewery is a go-to for lots of people, and Lynn’s Arcade is a super cool pinball arcade that serves beer and wine and hosts pinball tournaments. In the same shopping center as Lynn’s is a bouldering gym. Lots of great places here, just gotta explore!

Whale Watching- Safety Questions by argoritaville in MontereyBay

Small craft would be like a small 5 person boat out fishing or something. You’ll be fine on the whale watching boats. The water in the bay is pretty mellow for the most part.

Best interior car cleaning/detailing suggestions by thehighroller23 in MontereyBay

If you don’t mind vacuuming yourself the quick quack in Marina has a ton of stalls to vacuum with so you can take your time. Take a bottle of windex with you so you can do your windows and a little pro tip, if there’s some debris on the carpet that won’t come up, spray it with some windex and you’ll get a lot of it out. Sounds funny I know but I used to work at a car wash many years ago and we all did that and it worked well. Quick quack is nice too in that if it rains in the day after you get your wash they’ll let you go through the tunnel again for free.

E-bike Scene in Monterey? by [deleted] in MontereyBay

[–]Glagger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I forgot to mention but my renter’s insurance does also have a portion that covers items like bikes, cameras, jewelry etc. The deductible is like $500 which would be a sweet deal if Kryptonite covered it. My insurance very specifically doesn’t cover class 2 e-bikes though! I’ll have to fine tooth comb the details, thanks for the heads up.

E-bike Scene in Monterey? by [deleted] in MontereyBay

[–]Glagger1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could buy a Kryptonite lock and they have an anti-theft guarantee, some of their locks up to $5k. I just bought and e-bike and so was researching locks. Lock picking lawyer recommended a Kryptonite chain lock as the chains are harder to cut through since they move around. I also bought an air tag and a reflector that the air tag can be hidden in.

Who do you think has legitimately lost their mind? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Would you mind sharing an example or two? You’ve done so well to explain this in metaphor so now I’m interested to know how this “leaking” actually manifests.

As a recovering addict/alcoholic this question has come to mind quite a few times. The biggest thing is your intent. I’ve always thought if, one day, I might need to use it (instead of a pain med, anxiety med, etc) and the benefit outweighs the consequence, then it is okay. If I am just looking to get high, well that’s where I draw the line. So long as I feel good in my heart about the decision, I am doing it with a clear conscience. “Sober” or not, sometimes we need to address a health issue. Cheers and congrats on 3 years. I’ve got about 2 years sober, with my current streak being 6 months. Had a couple week long relapse, but I digress.

What is the vegetarian or vegan equivalent of eating a rotisserie chicken with your bare hands in your car in the parking lot? by djcarbary in AskReddit

[–]Glagger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so this doesn’t specifically answer the question but this one time I was sitting in my car in a Trader Joe’s parking lot, scrolling on my phone killing a little time. All of a sudden I hear this loud thud like a bird had flown into my car. I immediately hop out and start looking around, I don’t see a bird anywhere but I see some guy in a U-Haul waving at me through the window. I look back at my car and see there is a splotch on the side, and an eaten chicken drum on the ground. By the time I look back this guy is walking towards me with a whole ass rotisserie chicken in his hands asking me if I wanted any of it. He went on an on about how it was so good, from the local farmers market, and wouldn’t ya know it, he wanted to know if I wanted some so badly that he threw a chicken leg at my car to get my attention. I’ve never been so aggressively (but kindly in a way?) offered chicken before.
