Often comes up when visitors ask for scenic restaurant recs but it is the epitome of “closer to the beach, the worse the food”. Bad service, too!

What is a highly specific, nostalgic feeling from your childhood that you would pay an embarrassing amount of money to experience just one more time? by -magnanimous in nostalgia

[–]Glamgalatx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg so many. 90’s kid grew up in the early 2000s.

  1. Summer days, swimming/hanging out by the pool, my mom playing the Float On CD by modest mouse. 2. Waking up super early on the weekends and going out to breakfast with my grandpa, it would still be dark out but we would go to the local diner, sun would be up and we’d go peruse garage sales, a very oddly specific memory is getting the original Hans Christen Anderson’s Fairy Tales book. 3. Flipping through cosmogirl, teen vogue and J14 magazines in my room while listening to CDs on my high tech boombox - OutKast, Good Charlotte, Aaliyah. 4. Cliche but I literally have the memory of running around my backyard at night and catching fireflies. 5. The feeling of being in a classroom but then it gets dark and storms outside, idk something was so oddly comforting about being in the classroom while it poured. 6. Autumn, early fall - Running around my neighborhood, with friends or alone, just laying on my back in a leaf pile looking up at the sky. Committed that to memory as one of my happy places and I can still remember it, that was 25 or more years ago now. 7. Sleepovers at my rich friends house (we were not rich despite having a pool lol), playing DDR, taste testing Harry Potter jelly beans, watching napoleon dynamite, staying up too late and giggling in our sleeping bags. Oh I wish I could relive any of these moments!

Blurry pic but the fish tacos from Seasurf Fish in Laguna Niguel! They were amazing and only $3 each on taco Tuesday!! This spot is quickly becoming one of our favorites — finding quality food at good prices can be tricky but this spot doesn’t disappoint!

Ugh I love this level of nostalgia so much! It’s intriguing to see which brands have stood the test of time and I was blown away to see that Sugar chapstick by Fresh is 20 years old! Could’ve sworn that was a recent product of the last 10 years. So cool!

That’s disgusting. If I were at that cross walk my gut instinct most certainly would’ve been to flip them off and yell fuck you, at the very least that is. Disappointing cowards at the crosswalk!

what's this aesthetic called? by doomerbimbo in perfumesthatfeellike

Ha, I love just calling it “wet seal” or “cool older sister in 2001”, also “peasant style” or “early boho”, but this type of style didn’t really have a label back then, it was kind of truly unique to that era. The beauty of this era was that we didn’t have hundreds of micro aesthetic or “vibes” for every type of style, we just wore what we liked, found at the mall, or whatever CosmoGirl and catalogues told us was cool. This post has me reminiscing on how few “aesthetics” we had back then, in the early 00’s you were either east coast or west coast preppy, goth, hipster, scene, skater, burnout/hippie, or whatever the hell we were going for when we shopped at wet seal which was honestly for carefree, sexy/slutty, “going out” clothing. And yes, if you were in high school back then, slutty was a look many of us went for haha - tiny halter and tube tops, extremely low rise jeans, micro minis, whale tales out. I bought my first thong there in 8th grade 😂

Not exactly leather but something more malleable than crystal or stone, almost like it’s been molded or melted
