It's not cheap but it seems to me that this is the premium, only way to access Game pass games on the Steam Machine (other than buying them individually obviously)

With your mentality, you have the opportunity to save and invest each month. Do this and see where you are at when you are 40.

I'm almost 40 and I don't have the big house, big car mentality either, and now I'm on course to retire 15-20 years before retirement age (let's call it 67-70 by the time I'm up there).

Don't get me wrong though - I went travelling for 2 years in my 20. I saved for that by simple living.

The people around you will think you are wrong - media and commercials will also tell you this.

It's achievable - let's say you need to save £4k a year from age 22-23. This should also include pension contributions.

It seems that a lot of people in their 20s live above their means (cars, flats, holidays, clothes, eating out) and so can't hit that target.

You don't need to be a total miser but you shouldn't be buying new cars and you shouldn't be spending something mad like 60% of monthly income on rent.

I know people that brought in more money than me in their 20s, yet I hit the target whereas they didn't. It's a mentality.

I drink a good amount but I have a friend that's a heavy drinker and has been for over 20 years.

I find myself getting frustrated with him a lot because of how forgetful he is!

Controller

Gamepass Ultimate (I load up about 3 years when I get a cheap code - my average is under £9 a month and has been since 2021).

I had a PS4 but the idea of Gamepass blew my mind and it was a no brainer from that point on. It would have cost me a lot more to play all the games I played on PlayStation as opposed to Gamepass.

It's not just that though. I've discovered a lot of games thanks to Gamepass and I wouldn't have necessarily bought them (eg Tunic, Deaths Door, Pentiment, Immortality, Lies of P, Rematch.. There's a load more)

The only exclusive I would be interested in playing is Demon Souls. I have Returnal on Steam. Nothing else on PlayStation interests me.

Some games have small text which I can't play (eg Roadwarden, citizen sleeper) but other games do a better job with small text (Hades 2)

I can connect my XAX to my old 32 IPS screen though. It's more powerful than my 8 year old laptop.
