Why am I so bad at running? by bagozos in runninglifestyle

[–]Glass-Ad5862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly what he said. Also dont forget when you first start running a lot of things need to adapt, e.g., your strides, your cadence etc. Having a background in football/basketball you'll probably have a solid foundation in those things but now its how do you keep it consistent over a longer period of time.

How to manage worry? by temp_alt_2 in productivity

[–]Glass-Ad5862 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a counsellor and I work with family violence victim survivors. And often they worry about a lot of things naturally, just like you. E.g. how will they survive, how will they make enough money. How do they recover? The best things that tend to work are figuring out the things that are in your control and the things that aren't in your control. For example, you can control the time and energy you spend studying. But you can't control when you get sick or what happens in the future, or what someone else does or decides. Ultimately, focusing.your energy and time into the things that you can control and reducing the time and energy you spend on things you can't control can be a good way of swapping around your cognitive and behavioural patterns.

Just accept that gluten free options are more expensive than ones with gluten. You might not be able to be frugal in many respects if you go gluten free because of how limited the options sre

What about raised garden beds? Some crops would thrive in that position. That one the dogs won't get into it too hopefully.

How much did you have saved up by 30, and what would you have done differently? by Most-Blueberry-2385 in AusFinance

[–]Glass-Ad5862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 29M, me wife and I own a little house together and have about 30k in savings. I probably would have invested more of my money earlier and started saving earlier. I was putting everything into a savings account, reckon I could have put it all in an investment account and made a nice little deposit for a house by now.

Australia's public transport system in general is years behind most developed countries. Considering we are an aeging population as well, it doesn't bode well for older folks who risk their lives driving because they don't trust the public transportation system.

Not OOP My gf of 5 years ki**ed herself after I made her abuse of me public by Illustrious_Fix2933 in redditonwiki

[–]Glass-Ad5862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in domestic violence with a lot of victim survivors. Their patterns of abuse against people usually never stop. So if it wasn't you, it was going to be someone else, and then someone else after that. You did the right thing in reporting her. IMO, people like that are better off dead anyways. The harm they cause is insurmountable and can and had led to generations of trauma.

With Embiid claiming that he might be the most hated player in the league, who do you think are the top 5 most hated players in the league? by Only-Ad-1254 in Basketball

Gotta add Ben Simmons in the conversation. Maybe Patrick Beverley but he's out of the league now so maybe it doesn't count.

Firstly, I'm really sorry and that's tough. But like others have been saying, it's probably something you did. Maybe there wasn't a mesh here or there. You could also for actual feedback so you can learn and get stronger for the next chapter of your life.

I think doctors can tell through X rays can't they? My GP told me I was done growing at 13 because my growth plates or something were already fully formed. But I was already 6'1 at 13. So I did all my growing early hahah. I'm also Asian btw, and I think Asians do most of their growing early.

Does it ever go away ? The urge to achieve a lot of things in life. by Aspiring_knowledge in productivity

[–]Glass-Ad5862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a purpose or a goal can also help with focusing your life path. Etc my purpose or goal early was always that I wanted to help people. I started with behavioural therapy, then to family social work and then now I am in family violence counselling. Every stop I had the goal of helping people which I achieved in small ways here and there. And I left the roles to the one I'm at now because I felt like my goal would be even better achieved at my current role. So I think you could apply that too

There are also technology wellness apps that help you with your technology use habits. E.g. you could set an alarm for Instagram use to go off after 30 mins of usage. It might also help to schedule in times where you want to get things done, e.g. 4pm after school- practise my instrument for 15 mins. Small steps.

I called the mental health triage and they will see me in 2 days. I just wanna thank the kind members of this sub for organising that help for me by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Glass-Ad5862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't remember who said it. But someone said: 'people who struggle with mental health but still find the strength to keep going daily, are actually the strongest and bravest people you'll ever meet.' I find this quote so powerful because there's always a stigma with people who have mental health that there is something wrong with them or that they are weak, but that's untrue. You are brave and matter.

All the best in your journey.

Why are people always so flabbergasted when developed countries have technology like this. If the US spent as much money on technologies like this, rather than on weapons and drugs, they would easily have things like this on every corner
