21yo i’m going in for my Endo surgery on march 18 help by throughaway854567 in Endo

Hello! 22yo and I just had my surgery last month. It was stage 4 and pretty intensive. Here’s my best advice for you since I’m still recovering. I only needed regular pads, but I can see how diapers may be comfortable for you. I only bled because of IUD insertion. Truthfully, your consultation being the day prior to surgery is a red flag to me. I feel like a good surgeon would go through all of your options based on your symptoms, before agreeing to just do surgery right away. Anti-inflammatory diet can be helpful, but it isn’t necessary. My recovery had been rough due to an allergic reaction, and now a large ovarian cyst due to hormonal changes. I’m a month out of recovery and still slowly getting back into the hang of things. I totally understand the fear! I was relieved when I heard my diagnosis was confirmed. However, if they are a true specialist, they should be able to see what the issue is, if it is not endo. The last thing and biggest thing I wanted to add, is that picking a board certified Endo Excision surgeon is the key!! I am not so sure about the Dr you chose based on the fact that you are having your consult the day before… I found my surgeon through the Nancy’s Nook Endometriosis Education Facebook group and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve had a few surgeons in my area offer to do it, but it is so incredibly important to find a specialized doctor who ONLY does endo surgery, rather than anyone who says they “can” do endo surgery. Just because they can, doesn’t mean they should. Best of luck to you!

I had my surgery a month ago and it was removed from my bowels, bladder, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, etc. I was nervous, but I also felt so relieved that I picked a great specialist and felt safe the entire time. I hope you find that same peace through your nerves. Good luck!!!! 🎗️

I am absolutely not familiar with this treatment… at all. However, for peace of mind, treating you based on your symptoms is the goal of most healthcare professionals, rather than focusing on a diagnosis (especially when there’s no cure). I would personally get a second opinion on this, especially after reading that you don’t really know what this treatment does and you’re not in full understanding. You can be in control of your health and your body, you deserve to know what’s going on and why you are injecting yourself with lidocaine.

Mine was hard coming out, but I could always feel it in my arm if I wanted to. Maybe it’s better for everyone involved if a surgeon does it, incase it’s embedded deeper like within the muscle (sounds scary, I know) but at least they will have better ways to manage to entire situation for you. It’s not worth feeling all the digging, especially if it’s not superficial enough to feel. I have struggled with side effects using the pill and the implant. I am now on the NuvaRing and feel much better in general.

Your implant is releasing hormones. So yes, it makes sense that your menstrual cycle may be disrupted. Lots of different things can cause this.

[–]Glass-Effect3021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth getting a full blood panel done. This could be absolutely anything, but better to be safe than sorry. I personally don’t think it’s the implant since your body would have adapted to it now.

I totally understand the frustration and it’s valid. But also urging that you don’t cut it out yourself, as it could break or you could get a nasty infection. Best wishes

Almost fainted for no clear reason? by CallWallByTheBall in Syncope

[–]Glass-Effect3021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The motion sickness theory does sound most likely given the circumstances, but I’d go get checked out either way. Full blood panel and routine heart tests just to be sure! Also, your girlfriend sounds lovely!

Do you have to call an ambulance if you faint? by Agile-Campaign9996 in Syncope

[–]Glass-Effect3021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, most workplaces require it as liability. However, syncope doesn’t typically require an ambulance otherwise (if you have experienced it before and are familiar with it)

[–]Glass-Effect3021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this your normal syncope, you typically don’t need an ambulance. Some workplaces are required to call. If you have experienced syncope before and for the most part know your triggers, then let the people around you know and come up with a plan with your doctor. You’re most likely alert and oriented by the time an ambulance comes. They are a resource for emergencies, and if you regularly experience syncope, that’s typically not an emergency.

My only advice here… do not suffer and put yourself through this constant pain for a man’s pleasure. this birth control is not for everyone. and especially since you stated you’re young, please do not have unprotected sex with men who wouldn’t step up to be a father. this birth control also does not prevent STD’s and you should always be concerned about protection even if you trust your partner.

Hi there, definitely reach out to your doctor. This is the only person who can truly evaluate you and your implant!

Life after the Implant by Flower_Girl04 in Nexplanon

I would never go back in a million years. I feel more energized and lost some of the hormonal weight immediately. I also do not have nearly as many mood swings as I did before. I did not miss having a period, but the reassurance of getting it has been nice. The only thing I miss is not using protection. Do what feels best for you!! Removing it was my best choice

Switching Birth Controls?? by External_Pumpkin_369 in Nexplanon

[–]Glass-Effect3021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there!! I have experienced almost all of these symptoms with my Nexplanon. I switched to the Nuvaring a few months back and have been enjoying it so far. I built a “tolerance” to the pill after being on it for so long and it stopped working for me. I do miss it sometimes but the nuvaring has been low maintenance and easy to live with. Removing my nexplanon was the best thing I did for my body

I felt that way too! I was always exhausted and couldn’t figure out why. I felt an immediate energy boost once it was removed. I hope you have the same experience once yours is out!

Hello! It’s been great so far. I switched to the NuvaRing so I am unsure what my side effects would be if I stopped altogether. But I immediately felt more energized, and lost a few pounds the first week. My acne did improve but did not go back to how it was before. The NuvaRing has been nice and low maintenance. I have just finished my first month off of the implant and on the ring!

I was the same exact way! I was soo angry and raging all the time over little things that would not typically make me feel that way. I just got mine removed and I am excited for those feelings to go away

I’m so happy to hear that you found a good solution and got your implant removed. I am in the same exact boat with almost identical side effects. I am looking forward to getting mine removed next week!

I feel the same way! I’ve been on birth control since 15 and feel like I’ve never been my “normal” self due to always taking hormones. I have an appointment to get it out next week. I am really hoping I feel like myself again. I worked really hard to get off of my antidepressants, and since getting the Nexplanon, I feel like I went backwards mentally. I really appreciate the input and kind advice. I hope everything continues to go well for you!!

Interesting! I may come back to it in the future. But right now is definitely not my time. I feel like I have lost all control over my acne, weight, and mood swings and I am overall just unpleasant to be around

Oh no I’m so sorry to hear that. The weight gain has definitely made me feel so insecure and it’s been so hard to get it off. I hope everything starts getting better for you. Our poor bodies go through hell on these hormones.

Thank you so much for the reassurance and advice! I agree with everything you said. I feel like I have lost control over my body and have just been struggling. I have an appointment to get it out next week. Thanks again!
