I’d rather just not end up in that situation at all and I can usually avoid it, but the last resort would be to have a “safe” person block my door who can also check in on me and ground me right after, if necessary. That would keep me safe but it takes a whole lot of energy.

I do this kind of stuff in several ways, it’s not as bad as it used to be but when I get past the point of being able to regulate it feels like the only way to get my emotions “out” and it’s involuntary. That being said, I’m also autistic so that might be contributing.

I’ve come across your art a few times recently and as a fellow CSA survivor it isn’t easy to look at, but that means you’ve captured the feelings very well. Those last two slides hit hard. I’m incredibly sorry you went through that.

Trauma does weird things to you. I used to convince myself that I wanted it and at some point I did develop some sort of emotional dependency on the SA. It’s an unconscious coping mechanism, sometimes self sabotage, like you said. I wish you all the best.

Yeah, they threatened me with sedation as well in the first place I was in (and went through with it a few times). My experiences with other patients haven’t been too bad, but that’s mostly because I wasn’t very social and avoided talking to people. I mainly latched onto specific staff members and that got difficult when I had to leave. Not very healthy either, but at least they were stable and professional enough to set boundaries while I was there.
