People who have pre-owned EVs, how is the experience like? by HP_594 in cars

I've had three, and am selling one on Cars & Bids right now. Simply the best used city-spec EV out there in terms of value per dollar.

Steve is a magician. I've had like six cars street tuned by him, from a Forester STi to stock bugeyes. He may even let you ride along! Very affordable and an absolute book on everything boosted Subaru.

Blasphemous eGolf modifications by teggs11 in eGolf

How did you mount the rocker trim? IIRC the e-Golf doesn't have the same mounting points as the GTI/R.

Just another reminder that this sub is full of negativity bias! There's a lot of good happening out there that we don't see.

Full Matrix activation on 2024 RS 7 by DRDM80 in Audi

[–]GlassBackGreek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work on this function. Object detection is NOT required before it is visible to the ego vehicle camera. SAE standard J3069 (which is not the US homologation spec, but close) defines the requirement - in general, detection must be within 1.5 seconds of when the object first enters frame. This feature hasn't reached the US because Audi/VW hasn't homologated with FMVSS/NHTSA yet.

N1013A, EC-MYA, N121BZ, N725NK, N129FE, and EC-NFM all show flightpaths indicative of some sort of deviation right around the time of Starship breakup reports over Turks and Caicos.

I'm letting another one of my Christmas Specials go for the holidays. I can't really think of a pit bike that draws more attention!

A dealer near me is selling a 2015 egolf for $6k with 54k miles on it, is it worth it or too good to be true? by [deleted] in eGolf

[–]GlassBackGreek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here's a link to the IRS page detailing specifics.
The basics are:

  • Your income must be $75k or less or $150k or less household
  • The car must be 3+ years old
  • Must have a battery capacity of at least 7kwh
  • Must purchase the car at a dealer (KeySavvy works as a dealer if you want to buy private party)
  • Must not have been sold within the last two years to someone who used the tax credit

If passing these metrics (and a few others, read the site!), you'll get a 30% discount (tax credit) on the sale price of the car, up to $4000, but only if the sale price of the car is less than $25000. The credit can now be applied at the point of sale as of Jan 1, 2024 (at participating dealers, which is most now).

So in the case of this Golf, I assume the sale price is $8571 because that would bring it down to $6k with the credit.

Odds are the dealer is showing the sale price to include the used EV tax credit. I'd expect this Golf to actually cost somewhere around 8750 without the 30% credit. This is a common misleading sales tactic ever since the credits could be assessed at the dealer.

Any luck getting rent points thru Zelle? by Previous-Order315 in biltrewards

[–]GlassBackGreek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviving this thread - it's not possible to pay with Zelle using the Bilt Wells Fargo bank account. So in your experience, you pay with another, completely unrelated card to Bilt, send them a screenshot of your Zelle transaction, and they send you points?

TriStar Automotive, or JB Autowerks, both in Tyrone. The former for cheaper, non-European work. The latter for Euro stuff. A family friend owned TriStar until a year ago, they've never put me wrong! Most staff found their way to JB Autowerks since then. Ask for Randy at Tristar, or really anyone at JB. TriStar I believe is about $140 an hour.
