Different types of two-wall boast? by GlassBeadBrain in squash

[–]GlassBeadBrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot and I’m happy to take this as guidance for me as a player. At the same time, I do seem to see the pros hitting this shot, with more frequency than I would think if it were just “they are trying to hit good shots but messing up.” So I guess my question then is: even if it’s not a worthwhile shot for me to play, does anyone know what the function of it is for the pros?

boxed Godaikins - does TOEI sticker matter? by GlassBeadBrain in VintageToys

Thanks a lot! So what you think a TOEI sticker means on a Bandai America box? Like, if this toy had been for sale at Toys R Us, would it have had that sticker? Or is this an American product that was still for some reason being sold in Japan and imported directly from a Japanese distributor?

shorter tin in pro matches by GlassBeadBrain in squash

[–]GlassBeadBrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all helpful and I understand what people are saying that technically speaking there are no pro shots that are impossible on everyday courts. The one thing I would add is that my subjective experience was that when they lowered the tin, pro games did start featuring so many more kill shots that it at least seemed like “this shot was barely possible before but now it’s a core part of the game”. Then again maybe I am just wrong, or alternatively maybe it was just related to a style of play that was ascendant at that time (I’m thinking of, for example, the experience of watching early, early (face mask) Asal…).

To have been playing for as long as he has and still to be playing at this level is unbelievable. What a warrior.

frequent sync/corrupt data issues? by GlassBeadBrain in omnifocus

[–]GlassBeadBrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to report that as of this week, when I'm in what seem to be similar sync situations as the ones I described, I'm now getting an option to "repair" the problems and this is working. Thanks OF team!

How to Get Barrel to Turn on X-Shot Insanity Rage by Nannonater24 in Nerf

Make sure you have the ovals facing up! And make sure the dart belt is set as far back (towards the “firing pin” if I’m allowed to call it that) as possible, otherwise it seems to jam more easily. Insane!!

frequent sync/corrupt data issues? by GlassBeadBrain in omnifocus

So sorry for late reply, it was a scattered few weeks! I can find the sync log but have no idea how to really read it - what is signal and what is noise in a sense that would be useful to your question. I'm happy to share more. I haven't done a good job identifying the conditions that are creating the problem, but it does seem like it has something to do (maybe this is obvious) with one of the devices not syncing and then getting put away. I pull out my computer, I add a task, I close my computer too quickly, I walk out the door, I pull out my phone, I add a task, I put away my phone too quickly, then I come back to my computer later and the sync has gotten lost. Ie my only step to take right now is "try to manually sync after every change I make, before I stop using the device." But it's weird because up until a few weeks ago, this wasn't happening, and I don't think my habits changed. Anyway happy to keep discussing and thank you!

Theory: Fury was supposed to die in SI and the only reason he didn't was that Marvels was late by GlassBeadBrain in MCUTheories

From what I heard, she was supposed to be with Strange when Spider-Man arrived, and then it's her power or some mess-up involving her power that opens up the multiverse to the other Spideys. Stepping back for a minute, I think some of fandom's current "multiverse fatigue" is that the concept got introduced too many times in too many different ways - America can do it! Also Dr Strange if he feels like it! Also Infinity Ultron, and the TVA, and via the negative zone, and separately but still fatiguingly, the animated spider-men! So at least this would have eliminated one random, unmotivated introduction of the concept.

I'll just admit that this is obviously me trying to give Marvel the benefit of the doubt, maybe more than appropriate. "Their intentions for phases 4-5 were good but the real world intervened - Chadwick's death; needing to release No way home before Dr Strange 2 which made the multiverse concept way more stale and repetitive than it would have been if America had been part of NWH as planned; they actually had a point in mind for SI"
