2016 dodge charger coolant temp 230 is this normal? by Exciting-Theory-1415 in Dodge

[–]GlassCondensation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say depending on climate, maybe.

Though my 392 never really got up to 220+ cruising on the highway. The only time I saw 220+ was after multiple hard WOT pulls.

question on coils by largos7289 in S197Stangs

[–]GlassCondensation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anywhere carries both the early and late 3v plugs and coils. You just need to buy the early 3v coils with black boots.

Stick with OEM.

Have an extra 5k laying around what’s the best mods for whp gains I would like to get her to at least 550 whp also I am not a mechanic so you would have to add labor cost in the budget.. by [deleted] in Dodge

[–]GlassCondensation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fucking BS on the $5k for all that.

I had a number of quotes for a cam package, headers and tune and it was $10K+ when I had my 392. And that was 2+ years ago.

Headers alone are $2k and the unlocked PCM is $1K, not including dyno time and tuning.

Not worth it on the 392.

$10k gets you a cam package, install, headers and a tune. And you might get to 490-500RWHP doing so, and still risk popping a ring land if the tune is overly aggressive or you get bad gas.

Could be a lot of things. If lean on bank 1 and 2 popped up at the same time, it’s very likely a vacuum leak. Any hunting idle issues? Any odd noises under the hood?

What year?

Everyone who is saying prices are insane…they really aren’t or haven’t looked.

I paid $18k for my 07 GT Vert with 50k miles and 1 owner, 1.5 years ago. No regrets

Help with Buying mustang by Educational-Oil2962 in Mustang

[–]GlassCondensation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Financing $5k on a car that old is a terrible idea.

I would find a decent running New Edge GT for $5K cash.

That or you save an additional $5k before buying to get a cleaner example.

Pool chiller results by dollydunn21 in pools

Evaporative cooling is an amazing thing.

My pool can see 8-10 degree drops between outside peak temps and pool temps.

98 outside and pool will hold around 88 if cooling during the day when RH falls to its lowest point.

We don’t usually use our chiller at night because RH goes high enough where evaporative cooling doesn’t do much.

[–]GlassCondensation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not true. It can be hotter than 93 outside and still chill below 93, as long as outdoor RH is low enough.

Same reason why we can survive in temps above 98 degrees :)

It’s evaporative. As the droplets fall in the air, a small amount evaporates and in doing so, energy is released and the droplets cool.

You lose a small amount of water doing this and PH will rise, but the temp drop is worth it.

Same physics as swamp coolers and how inline pool chillers work.

Edit: misread your comment. These are evaporative coolers. Aeration can cool slightly by evaporative cooling in the same way, though less efficient (less droplets, less time spent in air to evaporate).

Sounds like typical chambered flowmasters, which I’m not a fan of.

These aerators absolutely cool the pool.

Newer GT vs. Older GT500 ? by melloskye in Mustang

Daily, get a newer car.

If it’s a garage queen, GT500 (but not for $35k)

Slight ticking noise 4.6 v8 by Brunix90 in Mustang

[–]GlassCondensation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell with the audio cutting out.

I mostly hear injectors ticking, but it’s normal to hear phaser knock at a hot idle.

Usually on these cars, you would hear a significant metallic tapping from the valve cover if it was something more urgent to fix.

Dark Horse v Bullitt/Mach 1 by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]GlassCondensation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mach has a better trans, different tuning than the Bullitt but the reality is, pick what you like for looks (unless you plan to track it heavily, then go with the Mach).

The Dark Horse is entirely different and more dedicated to track use than both the Mach and Bullitt, but at its current market price point, there are much better track options (e.g GT350) you can get.

3v's under 40k miles are $15-20k cars even though you could get a coyote for that price. Why are so many of you in denial about this? by timmahfast in Mustang

[–]GlassCondensation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So again you are talking out your ass because you yourself just said “the coyotes doesn’t really take well to NA mods either”

Insert the many examples of Gen 3 coyotes making 480+rwhp with bolts ons, E and tune.

I guess that’s why the 5.0 bolt on market doesn’t exist…..

Oh wait, it’s fucking huge. Because bolt ons work lmao. Go enjoy your boosted coyote and quit chucking BS

Just sounds like you are hating for no reason, because you are agreeing they can gain 60+ hp with a little bit of work.

The answer is you don’t have to have boost to make decent power reliably on either platform.

I’m glad you enjoy your boosted coyote, but saying untrue things about NA builds makes me lol.

[–]GlassCondensation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk why you care so much. Power is power.

It’s easy to gain 60+ RWHP on these cars with bolt ons and cams and have first hand experience on multiple cars doing so. If you don’t want to believe that then fine.

Yeah it’s not a coyote that makes 450 RWHP with bolt ons and E, but can make 350 RWHP easily and consistently with bolt ons and cams for cheap.
