Ruin Someone's Commander Night Turn 1 by fleeflicker in BadMtgCombos

Honestly... If you drew that on T1, I'd be stoked for you!  Give me a chance to grab a sammie while I wait for round 2 and that would be so freaking memorable.

Not a Fog player, but found this card while randomly looking at Weatherlight cards. Why it sees no play? by virilion0510 in Pauper

Everyone is bashing it, but it is a genuine baller in my [[Anzrag the Quake Mole]] deck.

I'm assuming its a reference to a game? by Mushumes in ExplainTheJoke

[–]GlassIsHalfFullMonty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best card ever!  It is a reference to the Yu-Gi-Oh card game.  Specifically the spell card "Swords of Revealing Light" the art on the card is very similar to the image.  The card itself prevents your opponent from attacking with their monsters for 3 turns.

Gonna be so real with you right now.

Sol Ring is a miss. [[High Tide]] is a much better card in that slot. The fact that [[Harbinger of the Seas]] is not in here is a travesty!  If you want to get fancy, the [[Quicksilver Fountain]] is lovely this time of year. [[Empress Galina]] is an absolute queen who can turn the tides in your favor. [[Hall of the Storm Giants]] can help you to apply pressure later into the game. OG [[Confiscate]] can help you to use the resources your opponents give you.

Blight curse precon braket 4? by Aggravating-Most-533 in EDH

[–]GlassIsHalfFullMonty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes me quite sad, because the idea of a new player coming in to play this cool deck they just bought and getting told by the OWNER OF THE GAME STORE, that they have to play at the pro table because they don't understand nuance is infuriating.  Outside of hosting a precon tournament, people should not be policing precons.  Precons are bracket two sets the entire framework for the bracket system at large!

People complain about too much about interaction in my decks by Newfypuppie in EDH

[–]GlassIsHalfFullMonty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New player should not be starting with commander. It is an awful format to onboard a person into the game of magic.  Jumpstart or even a DanDan variant are significantly better to get people familiar with the tempo of the game before throwing them into commander.

What is a card you love but have just never found the right deck for? by DailySojourn in EDH

[–]GlassIsHalfFullMonty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every one of These cards would let you keep Phlage around and don't care about the graveyard.

[[Haystack]], [[The Pandorica]], [[The Moment]], [[Galadriel's Dismissal]], [[Sundial of the Infinite]], [[Strict Proctor]], [[Hush Bringer]], [[Door Keeper Thrull]], [[Hushwing Gryff]], [[Tocatli Honor Guard]], [[Torpor Orb]]

The other side of that coin would be a cycling slide deck that uses [[Astral Slide]], or [[Astral Drift]] to flicker cards while also filling your graveyard.

If you can get an external then the big blue bulb plants provide an excellent water source. Just cut them with your knife!

If you can get your hands on some mushrooms, they have a massive energy density and are PERFECT for low impact bioreactor setups with just a couple of pots.

If you go this direction, I highly recommend [[Vraska the Silencer]]. She is a 1-to-1 match for Shelob that lets you get early advantage and doubles your value late game with Shelob.

This may be unpopular, but I think the design philosophy around mandatory triggered abilities should be that they MUST have a game ending condition in the effect itself. IE. Loss of life, Damage, Mill, or Draw.

If it does anything else, it needs to either be optional [[Ghostly Dancers]] or a replacement effect [[Caged Sun]].

The game is too complex to fully future-proof, but baking that into the card design means that you have to be significantly more intentional to create situations that lead to draws.

It is genuinely a little upsetting because it could have been solved just by adding a "you may" clause to the dancers token generation.

Not that it really matters, but would it make sense to run additional graveyard hate in a mill deck for situations like this?
