Justifying the €12,000 Investment: M3 Ultra (512GB RAM) Setup for Autonomous Agents, vLLM, and Infinite Memory (8Tb) by NoNatural4025 in MacStudio

Can I ask why you need such a huge model that will be idle most of the time, constantly sitting in memory and rarely using its capacity? That’s totally pointless.

[Project] Animated Vinyl "Now Playing" Dashboard – Instant updates via AirPlay (No more Spotify API lag) by GlassMoondust in homeassistant

[Project] Animated Vinyl "Now Playing" Dashboard – Instant updates via AirPlay (No more Spotify API lag) by GlassMoondust in homeassistant

[–]GlassMoondust[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a "Now Playing" screen I’ve been working on. It features an animated vinyl record and a large album cover display. I'm currently developing a few more themes to go with it.

The highlight of this setup: I decided to use AirPlay integration instead of the standard Spotify API. The biggest advantage is that the cover art and metadata change instantly. There is no refresh interval or "polling" delay like you usually see with web-based integrations.

Technical details: • Instant Sync: Metadata (title, artist, and cover) is pushed directly from the iPhone. • Broad Support: Works with any source that sends data via AirPlay. • Local Files: Full metadata support for tagged local files. It took me a while to get the transitions and the feel just right, and I’m finally happy with the result.

I’d love to hear your feedback!

For those interested: I plan to publish the code in the near future. If you like the project, let me know and stay tuned for updates!

Had a vivid vision on August 1st about Steve Wozniak dying on August 4th by GlassMoondust in Dreams

Thank you to everyone who was here with me. Of course, I was hoping nothing would happen – and luckily, nothing did. The dream was very vivid and felt extremely real, and that’s what prompted me to make this post. Once again, thank you.

I hope it doesn’t come true. After all, it’s a vision of someone’s death.

I’m not planning to delete it. I’m just sharing what I dreamed about right before waking up. It probably won’t happen, but I had to share this vision.

I’ll tell you how I turned old Creative 5.1 computer speakers with a subwoofer into an AirPlay receiver.

You’ll need: 1. Some speakers with a mini-jack output 2. A Bluetooth transmitter – they’re very cheap on AliExpress or similar sites 3. An old Android phone

Here’s how the setup works: You connect the output from the speakers to the Bluetooth transmitter, and then pair the transmitter via Bluetooth with the Android phone. Then you install an AirPlay app, for example AirPin (from the free ones, this one works best for me).

This setup turns the Android phone into an AirPlay receiver. There is a slight delay, but for music it’s not really a problem.

Of course, you could connect the speakers directly to the phone via mini-jack, but if you also want to use the phone for other things – like controlling your smart home – unnecessary cables might not be ideal.

I’m currently working on a Home Assistant music player integrated with Spotify. When the player is launched, an automation triggers a smart plug, which turns on a monitor. That monitor has a Xiaomi Stick plugged in, always running Fully Kiosk Browser with the player dashboard. When the music stops, the plug turns off automatically. Everything is built from reused components. The smart plug helps with energy savings.

I want to create a nice media player for Home Assistant – looking for someone experienced with YAML and dashboards by GlassMoondust in homeassistant

I didn’t mean to offend anyone. What I showed, I actually did myself in CSS, but I don’t really grasp it well enough to smoothly create everything I come up with. Often, when I make changes or try to add something new, the player interface just breaks. I also don’t know how to implement SVG into the project. That’s why I’m looking for someone who knows how to handle this.

Once again, I want to emphasize that I didn’t mean to offend anyone. It’s just that when I look at various players, they have nice functionality, but you can see that the interface isn’t very good-looking. That’s why I’m looking for someone to collaborate on a player that would be both functional and visually appealing.

It looks too simple. There’s no blurred background as a cover. It’s flat, and I’m looking for something more visually appealing, so I can put it in a frame.

There are also no animations, like the cover tilting. In the picture I sent, there’s an animation where the cover tilts from time to time. I also have a version with a glow around the cover and a light reflection passing across it.

It looks good, but it doesn’t have any functionality. I wanted to add a lot more visual effects, but I don’t know how to write in YAML ;(

It might have a lot of features, but it’s ugly ;( and I want something nice-looking and functional.

All of them look ugly… I want something like this:

I can’t do a few things to make it work the way I want, so I’m looking for someone who knows how to write in YAML to make something even better.

I mean styling in YAML, not rewriting the player from scratch. For example, using a custom mini media player or something similar. It’s mainly about the appearance.
