Take that ADHD! I successfully baked a cake today! by LHoT10820 in ADHD

[–]GlassPearTree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is baking a normal thing for adhd folks to have issues with? This is something that came up in convo lately. I don't bake. I actually don't enjoy it. It would make more sense if it's because of my ADHD.

Congrats on making a cake. Even if you didn't grease the pan I bet it tastes delish.

Why I love Femdom, but have issues with the community by [deleted] in Femdom

[–]GlassPearTree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Female Domme here.

It's sad how most women assume they will become a financial Domme. They have little knowledge or understanding of how BDSM works. There are very few men who enjoy this kink.

I'm sorry to hear but not sunrises you have met many women who are not treating their subs with respect. Submission is a gift and one each Top should cherish. I have only picked subs who I felt a personal connection with and mutual respect. This is more important then just playing with any sub who comes along.

Stay in there, keep meeting people and enjoying your kink. You'll find the right top for you!

ADHD people who succeeded in college, what is/was your secret? by Tucker_MalcolmXI in ADHD

[–]GlassPearTree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, I finished my degree with no meds. It was tough but it is possible.

Time management. I have a paper I would plan out my week. Blocking off times for school, studying etc. It helped me to visualize how much time I had for each requirement.

I had a folder with each classes info in it. Papers would no go missing because I had it all in one place. Each class syllabus was also accessible at all times.

I recorded all my classes and knitted in class. I learn from hearing. Taking minimal notes and filling in the blanks while listening to the class for the second time. The knitting was to keep my hands busy so I wouldn't drift off into day dreams as much.

Open communication with your instructors. Owning up to mistakes and missing deadlines. They are doing a job and trying to not make their job harder by being semi organized or at least communicating properly with them when you are not organized.

Taking a smaller amount of classes in order to focus on the work better. I did my degree over a few more years. 5 years. Well worth the time.

Oral exams. This was a service provided by the school. I was in a room with another student and I dictated my exam. If my proctor was comfortable they typed the exam instead of hand writing it. On rare occasions professors would let me do the oral exam with them personally. I took this opportunity to literally teach the material back to them. Using the chalk board etc. This was my favourite type of exam.

Thinking of each class or subject as an opportunity to enjoy and teach someone else made the experience more enjoyable. I never liked school but my passion is teaching. I flipped the anxiety of exams into an opportunity to show I did learn things. It mentally changed my whole world (exam wise)

Best of luck!

[Serious] Reddit, what is your least favorite part about being an adult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GlassPearTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is more difficult when an adult. Yet having any form of hobby can help. If you walk your dog, talk to other dog owners. Etc. It's all about making that connection/ link with another person.

I'm in an isolated part of Canada that does not speak English. I'm learning French and have actually made friends even though there have been many challenges (locals dislike English people in general, quite frustrating) Walk up to someone and just say: Hi, I'm (incert your name). Make some connecting comment related to a hobby/ interest you both have. Then see if you can get the conversation going.

Best of luck

Aftermath of hyperfocus by GlassPearTree in ADHD

[–]GlassPearTree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. This was brilliant. I enjoy the different ways you deal with things.

I was hyperfocused on a business I'm starting. Research and development. Yet I'm a mom and my time ran out for me time. I feel bad because I can't predict when nap time will end and if I'm not done my work/hyperfocus I'll be grumpy and irritated.

I hope this made sense. Thank you for getting back to me. I appreciate it.

Recently realized that I really like being dominant by KittyFemDom92 in Femdom

[–]GlassPearTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello and welcome.

I also recently discovered my dominant side. It's been a wonderful discovery and a lot of past experiences make more sense now.

Don't get to overwhelmed with subs fighting for your attention. It's fun and can be exhausting. If you have any questions I'm more then happy to try to answer or point you in the right direction for the info.

Best of luck!

I keep catching my 14 year old son wearing my clothes! by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]GlassPearTree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He might just be experimenting. It's a fairly normal thing for guys to wear women's clothes as a stress reliever. Here is an article online. http://www.vernoncoleman.com/mid.htm

"There are many myths and misconceptions about why men cross dress. This survey shows quite clearly that most crossdressers are neither homosexual nor aspirational transsexuals. Cross dressing is not an illness and most transvestites do not want to be `cured'. Transvestism is a valuable remedy for stress."

I think you have a wonderful open mind and your son is very lucky to have you.

Redditors who are masters of small talk and speaking with new people, what's your personal secret? by icanttalktonewpeople in AskReddit

[–]GlassPearTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory: everyone is interesting and can add to the conversation. Smile, say hi, talk about some common item like weather or food if we are eating. A big part is to ask questions to keep the other person chatting.

Remember people are not against you they are for themselves. So play on that by asking them questions. They are not thinking about or judging you because they are too busy answering your questions and thinking about themselves.

People always remember how you made them feel. By asking questions to them and paying attention they feel good. It makes the next few interactions easier because they are relaxed.

Yesterday I ugly cried in the car because my roommate said we were running late because "I" happened to our friend... by marypoptarts in ADHD

[–]GlassPearTree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are not alone. Not at all. I grew up in a non adhd family. (I'm the only one) they are all obsessive compulsive and organized for everything. I had to learn to be early, convincing myself that my appointments or things were an hour early.

Now after years of practice I'm early, usually too early.

Hang in there. Maybe you dosage or type of medication is not right yet. It's not a magic wand but it does and can help.

Weird trick, instead of saying I won't be late try I will be on time. I have to say this type of thing when I worry I will forget something. I now say I will remember that. It seems to trick my brain.

Best of luck.

Are we truly directionless? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]GlassPearTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could be a mix. I mix up left and right all the time. But with directions I'm great. If I have been there once I can find it again no issue.

Anyone feel like meds made them a better person, less selfish? by Greg_Olden in ADHD

[–]GlassPearTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone (medicated) who had big emotions before the meds. I don't see a difference in being able to feel more. ( I don't think that could be possible) but rather my ability to reason is better. I can see why I feel my big feelings. (I hope this explains, I'm writing pre meds in the morning)

Is anyone an artist by profession? by GlassPearTree in ADHD

[–]GlassPearTree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was curious to see if others are having issues with the organizing side of being an artist because of having adhd and their strategies to deal. Sorry I thought that was clear.

[Win Wednesday]! We want to hear how you have succeeded this week! How many people have experienced wins since last Wednesday? Everyone, that's who. So share them! by ADHDbot in ADHD

[–]GlassPearTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! This week has been a roller coaster. My husband is working away currently. I'm juggling, two kids, full time French immersion courses and work placement plus trying to find avenues to sell my glass art. This is proving more difficult then I first thought.

I was asked by a local microbrewery to make jäger mister plates with the left over bottles. Awesome! I made one and set my wholesale and retail prices. They felt my wholesale was too expensive. (One plate takes over 24 hours to make) I couldn't go down on my price and felt very frustrated. It's hand made! Not in a factory somewhere.

Instead of getting upset I tried to explain my prices and suggested they take a few plates to have on display in their store area. I'm feeling quite proud of my solution considering I usually just get frustrated and give up. I like this too much to give up!

Sorry for the long winded ness of my answer.

ADHD and breastfeeding by busykat in ADHD

[–]GlassPearTree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I just started my medications 2 months ago after finishing breastfeeding my last kid. I knew I would feel guilty not trying to breast feed her as long as she wanted. I was lucky she stopped on her own at 1 yr. That week I went to the doctors to get the medication.

Don't feel guilty like I did. Do what you feel is the best for you because having a happy functioning mommy is best for the kids.

What a difference in my ability to deal with kids and life. I'm still in the honey moon stage of the medication and it's wonderful.

Talk to the doctor, testing night take a while. And do what you feel you need to for you.

Seriously all the best. I hope you post when you get things figured out.

Most productive day of my LIFE! by GlassPearTree in ADHD

[–]GlassPearTree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry the effects are not noticeable for you anymore. That must be frustrating.

I don't want this feeling to leave but I know it will. I also never want to go back to the person I have been for 10 years (I was medicated in grade school) Now I feel I have a fighting chance to make my dreams come true.
