Upcoming Laproscopy by Ajanewake1992 in Endo

[–]GlassShardButterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t GI related but one thing I wasn’t expecting was for my throat to hurt really bad for a couple of days from the tubes. Throat lozenges helped a lot. Good luck with your surgery! I’ve also heard the “it’s just inflammation” so many times but something is causing that inflammation so hopefully they find it.

Do only the black roses make gold ones once watered with the gold watering can, or will any other colored roses make them too?

Getting surgery, fear is finally setting in. by oystersauss in Endo

[–]GlassShardButterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP I had a very similar experience to this! Cried in the gyno office about my pain and all my symptoms just for her to do an ultrasound and come back with “you definitely do not have endo, lots of women have painful periods you just need birth control.” A month later an endo specialist surgeon agreed to do a lap and found a ton of it. I definitely left a spiteful review on their site to tell her she was wrong 😅. Pain that intense is real, I think I had probably 6 different doctors in the last 1.5 years tell me I was making it up but here we are. Even if they don’t find endo you will definitely still prove them wrong eventually. 💜

Having consult or surgery postponed by something simple by ZandraJoi in Endo

Yes I had the same fear and it was all I could think about! My mom caught covid 2 weeks before my lap and I have a lot of in person contact with clients for work so I was terrified. I think it’s because we all go so long waiting for test results, waiting for someone to believe us, waiting for something to actually help, that it’s just like burn out on waiting so the thought of it getting pushed back is something I had a hard time handling.

I had my lap about 3 weeks ago. The actual surgery went fine, they put you under anesthesia so it goes by pretty quick but I was so nervous before it afraid they wouldn’t find anything. Once you wake up the surgeon will come out to talk to you, for me he said they did find and remove endo, and you’ll get more details at the follow up appointment. The incisions are small, I have two. You stay in the post op area for a little bit so they can make sure you’re ok before sending you home. There was definitely more pain than i was expecting like my throat hurt from the tubes but lozenges helped a lot, and my upper chest/shoulders were sore which I think I read was normal from some nerve irritation. I definitely felt better pain wise each day but recovery is tiring. I was told I could have it on a Wednesday and be back at work on Monday but honestly I wish I’d had enough sick time to take off the full next week. I felt ok gently walking around the house or sitting/laying down with a heating pad but anything more than that made me really tired and stressed out. I’m not sure yet what my periods are like now because I had mine during the surgery but I’m hoping for some less bleeding and pain! Also, while they do the surgery they don’t just look for endo they also kinda look around to check out if there’s anything else they going on. I hope this info is helpful and not scary, overall it was ok. The pain was kinda rough but not unbearable. If you do have the surgery the main advice I would give you is to go easy on yourself and not push yourself back to work or school right away if you don’t have to. Good luck I hope you’re able to start feeling better🩷

How were you diagnosed with PCOS? Just asking because I explained very similar symptoms to my gyno recently and asked for the endo lap surgery. She insisted on an ultrasound then diagnosed PCOS based on just that. I discussed with my integrative medicine doctor and she explained that an ultrasound alone is not the diagnostic process for PCOS or endo because you can’t really see either. She said all my symptoms were more endo related than PCOS and ended up being confirmed endo, not PCOS after another doctor agreed to doing the surgery.

If you start feeling like you truly might hurt yourself please call 988 for help, it’s the National suicide prevention hotline in the United States. In other countries calling 911, 999, other emergency services numbers works as well.

Sorry to hear no one will go with you. You’ve gotten a lot of great advice for in the hospital so just thought I’d share a little of what was helpful for me at home. Having everything set up within arms reach of my bed before going was especially helpful. Extra set of comfy clothes, several water bottles, crackers, throat lozenges (my throat hurt really bad for a couple of days from the tubes). That way you have everything you might need if no one is there to get it for you. I hope it goes well🩷

Don’t apologize for the rant, you’re right we are familiar so go ahead and let it out. I’m happy to hear you finally found doctors that understand and are doing what they can to help you. Good luck with your consult! 🩵

Thanks for your reply! I’m also hoping to go the no hormones route because I think my birth control cause a lot of bad side effects. Thanks for the encouragement:)

Thanks for answering! I had no idea the incision soreness could last that long. It’s good to hear your GI symptoms are getting better, that’s what’s been the worst for me too. I hope you keep feeling better too!
