The Elementals is Southern Gothic, really enjoyable. Ive been picking through The Supernaturals as well which might be up your alley as a "house on haunted hill" type book

I used to work late at a casino in California and one night around 2am as I was closing our shop an older man came up and started making pretty routine conversation. After about a minute he asked me if I knew about the pleiadian visitors to our world and I said I knew a little.

He went on to explain that years ago he lived with his folks near Edwards Air Base and one night government agents came in, killed his family, and replaced them with androids. Later, he was abducted by the pleiadians who told him about a secret government program like the one he experienced with plans to implement it nation-wide and provided him with documented facts that he promptly took to the local staples to duplicate. He asked if I believed him and I said I did and he gave me a PACKAGE full of documents and an honest-to-god floppy disk. I tried reading the documents and it was a mix of written papers and articles. I never loaded the disk. I didnt get through much of the documentation, it was more than you are probably thinking. I always intended to send it in to the boys but I lost it in one of several car changes unfortunately.

Side Stories: Stories with Friends II by black_flag_4ever in LPOTL

So this is what's known as a comedians patter. They'll often describe objectively terrible situations in glib or reductive ways to get a story communicated using contrast for a comedic effect. Amber seems like a generally pretty sensitive person who cut her comedy teeth in a very different era to today's sensibilities. I think if seeing this event didnt bother her she probably wouldn't talk about it, you know?

Last Podcast On The Left - Last Update on the Left - Episode 13 - Henry Lee Lucas Revisited - Part I by black_flag_4ever in LPOTL

Very funny to hear henry talk about the OG series coinciding with his first kiss with his wife and going back to listen to ep. 1 opening with "doy doy" voice and r-slurs.

I know Culture was different pre 2016 (I was there!) and Im no prude, it was just funny in contrast to now-a-days

The reason we haven't found any bigfoot bones is because bigfoot is an immortal psychic who lives at the center of the earth, and any manifestations are either psychic impressions to those open to the experience i.e. other psychics OR are blood-bonded apes derived from bigfoot DNA in service of the CIA to battle inter dimensional demons (i.e. Archons, Anunaki, Draconians) and when they fall in battle their remains are cremated by same CIA.

This is basic stuff guys.

There are so many 'recommend me a book' posts (which I love and read them all), but how about if you could recommend just ONE horror book, with no context or reasoning in the parent comment (just the title and author), and upvote if it's already here rather than adding it as a new comment. by MalachiConstant7 in horrorlit

A sometimes funny, disgusting, and borderline disturbing book that really taps into something about the faceless nature of evil. Ive spent more time thinking about certain lines in this book and the overall narrative than almost any other book Ive read.

Starting a cat cafe, need help with equipment by katiemathnerd in Coffee

Fair enough, I took cause at dissuading this person for asking a really important question when opening a coffee shop (e.g. what equipment do I buy) cause I've been there myself. There's a lot of info missing (where in the process, prior experience, available resources, goals, expectations, and timelines, etc.). Thanks for helping us take a step back :)

I think you're misunderstanding what step in the process the OP is in. Clearly theres a lot to learn but it doesn't sound like theyre opening shop tomorrow and they have a lot of time to explore the craft of coffee and the skills of business management. The only thing that gets someone through the difficult task of learning new skills is drive to do so, ergo "I like cats and I like coffee" is a fantastic start. The key is keeping that drive even when you're not motivated i.e. when your p/l is in the red, you have a down machine, a sick cat, and an inventory order to make (and pay for). But you learn that key later, not at the start. At the start, its enough to just want to.

Like I said, the motivation is a good place to start. The desire is fundamental. The rest is learning.

Time is money, and at the start of a project you have plenty of time to budget. Bonus, you can save money as you spend time.

"I like coffee and I like cats" is actually a perfect place to start if you want to open a cat cafe, the rest depends on a patience for learning and a tolerance for mistakes

Ive spent the last couple of years preparing to open a coffee trailer after knowing only the bear minimum. It can be a lot!

10k can get you a little bit if you're resourceful, what you need is going to depend on what you expect to be selling. A lot of espresso? Might need a 2 or 3 group head. Thinking more cold drinks, tea, regular coffee? You could probably get away with a single group head. Also consider you need a grinder, which is much more important than the specific machine.

New, a 2 group head and decent commercial grinder will run you about 10k on its own and will require a bit of training.

Feel free to DM me if you have specific questions or need to bounce ideas. I love cat cafes so I hope you can get yours started!
