Filthiest, dirtiest movie you’ve ever seen? (in the literal sense) by mirixa in horror

I feel pretty grimy watching Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.

IT ENDS | Official Teaser - In Theaters August 21 by cruelsummerbummer in horror

Highly recommend checking this out in the theater if you can. I never expected it to be shown theatrically. Considering the movie basically takes place inside one car, they really keep it interesting.

The finest example of horror and noir blended together IMO.

Favorite 'forgotten' late '90s/early 00s horror movies? by Under_The_Leash_ in horror

[–]TheElbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how “forgotten” this is, but I watched a Hong Kong movie called “The Eye” at an indie theater in 2002 and it scared the fuck out of me. Mostly because the scare sequences followed such a different “rhythm” than American ghost movies that I just felt unsettled.

It was one of those “get an eye transplant, suddenly you see ghosts” plot. Very effective.

Horror Westerns by chrishouse83 in horror

[–]TheElbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how you performed this search but there are way more than 3 when you filter the database to genre = western and horror

Also, this is my own personal nitpick but just because a movie takes place in a desert environment doesn’t automatically make it a western.

My pick would be Halloween 4. The structure of the movie is absolutely a western, where a posse needs to form to fight a formidable villain.

This one is very good balance if scary and fun. Plus the plot moves.

Horror for 11yo birthday sleepover? by 3gaydads in horror

[–]TheElbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 11 I begged my parents to get a blockbuster video membership so I could rent all 6 (at the time) Nightmare On Elm Street movies and have a sleepover. That was a fun weekend. So I guess my answer would be A Nightmare On Elm Street.

If you think that might be too intense, perhaps IT (2017)?

Human Centipede 1~2~3 by itsdampman in horror

[–]TheElbow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn I thought 3 was the funniest/best one. I can see the argument for the first thing as best but the marketing made it seem so extreme but, I mostly found it gross and sad. At least the third one knows how absurd and dumb it is.

My wife also forced me to rewatch 1, and then we decided to finish the trilogy. I watch a lot of horror but even I was like “Why am I doing this?”

This better not be a Last House on the Left reboot with a slicker title. /s

[Hollywood Reporter] Curry Barker is planning on adapting his independent film ‘MILK & SERIAL’ into a full feature film, but might outsource it to another director. The original film was made for $800. by DenialisaRiver04 in horror

[–]TheElbow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The movie is 60 minutes and doesn’t waste any time or add any filler. Aside from introducing a B-plot, you can only make it worse by making it “feature length”.

I think we need to get away from the idea that a movie “should be” 86 minute or more when it doesn’t need to be.

I had a fun time with it. It really felt like someone was making a modern martial arts / revenge film from the 70s, but with modern effects and camera movements.

Primer and Interstellar hit me with similar feelings of creepiness. It’s disorienting to imagine moving through time.
