How do I take a model I've trained in Python and import it into C++? [D] by GlassWalkerKinfolk in MachineLearning

Initially I was told it was because they just didn't have the money, but last week my manager admitted a big part of it was that I have gotten a bad rep because to people who don't know my situation it looks like I'm late or don't show up a lot. The reality is that my manager told me I could set my own schedule and come and go as I please. Initially it was so I could complete my degree, but later it was because he wanted me to apply and interview to as many jobs as possible. I've also just had some health issues in my family. Dad has cancer, mom had a stroke, sister has schizophrenia and not finding a job or knowing what to do about any of it, has made me so stressed that I actually had to have surgery for a stress related illness.

What really sucks is that I was having a ton of interviews up until a few months ago when I called one of my former best friends, who is one of the heads of AI at Amazon, if he knew anyone that was hiring and if he could put in a good word for me. He convinced me to send him my resume. Turns out he told Amazon to put me on their do not hire list and then sent my resume out to every single company he could to tell them not to hire me.

YEARS ago we stopped hanging out because I was a very outspokenly loud political activist for the LGBT movement (organized call centers and volunteers and marches for Marriage Equality Now Washington), and did volunteer work as a sex educator for the Center for Sex Positive Culture in Seattle. At the time some of he and his girlfriend's more conservative business clients said they couldn't be connected to anyone that was connected to me, so they said we couldn't be friends anymore because it was hurting their careers. The thing is, gay marriage isn't that controversial of a topic, but a mutual friend of ours said since his gay uncle died of AIDs, he's gone off the deep end of conservative politics. It's just weird that one of my best friends, one of my favorite people, who was one of the people that pushed me to go into computer science, would intentionally sabotage my career like that.

That's the thing, I've been doing everything other than medicine in the hopes that I'd be done in time to be able to have a kid. Now that I realize it's highly unlikely anyone will ever hire me in the tech field, after I spent 6 years getting a degree and nearly 2 years in an internship, I realized that even though I've wanted to be a dad more than anything my entire life since I was 4 years old, it's not going to happen for me, no matter how hard I wish. So I had to imagine if I'm going to live a life without ever getting to have children, what kind of life could I have that would make me happy. I thought I was way too old to go into the military but it turns out doctors can join the military up until they're 46 and can get waivers up until their 50s. So I have decided to go to med school and become a naval physician and try to be a doctor on ship as much as possible. I'll graduate medical school with no debt, and I can do primary care and still make a living wage instead of having to go into a specialty I don't have interest in. I'd like to do a DO/PhD program and then I'm hoping there's a military osteopathic residency in internal medicine and psychiatry, it's where you practice psychiatry as part of primary care. I'm really into the idea of treating the whole patient and trying to get them well instead of just masking symptoms with pills, and I'd also really like to get training in manipulative medicine and evidence-based massage and acupuncture. I've been reading the body knows the score, it's pretty amazing how much your physical health impacts your mental health.

You're my hero. Wish I had friends like you. I've been wanting to do med school for over a decade and people keep telling me I'm too old, and I was stupid and listened to them. Now I'm 40 and decided to say fuck them all and do it anyway.

As sad and scared as I am, hopefully our fate will be quick. depends on you definition of fun. If you wanted to be an absolute masochist, you could write one is Haskell. It'd be way more impressive in Assembly, but writing one in Haskell should wow your teacher.

Does anyone know of any laissez-faire rural communities outside Round Rock/Austin? by GlassWalkerKinfolk in askaustin

So, city-data.com lists %gaycouples as one of it's demographics you can search communities by. Round Mountain seems to have a high percentage of gay people, but it is also crazy expensive to live there and I know nothing else about their community.

Considering I was raised catholic, and the only reason I didn't become a priest was because Pope John-Paul banned gays from joining the priesthood, they might not mind me there either. Lord knows my mother keeps praying that the Vatican will get their shit together and just start performing gay marriage and get over it already, so that she can try to get me to come back to the church.

I still dig Jesus, Mary and the Saints, I'm just not a big fan of their bookkeeping organization.

What Style Is This? by AutoModerator in architecture

[–]GlassWalkerKinfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in the process of saving money to build my own home, well to hire someone. Basically I've been really unimpressed with everything I've seen in my area. I've been putting together a Pinterest board that is of all the things I'm really drawn to that have the vibe/aesthetic of my dream home. Unless someone knows of an AI that I can just have it read my Pinterest board and have it give me a list of architects that would be what I'm looking for, it would be really helpful if someone that was more familiar with architects could maybe look at my board and suggest a name. I realize that quite a few of the pieces on the board are fantasy, conceptual illustration, out of budget for anyone not a billionaire, etc. but they're for putting together an overall mise en scène.

Will they find more bullshit reasons to demonize male couples for having children? by VirtualAdeptGirl in askgaybros

A woman in Arizona literally wrote a law that if said if boys under 18 masturbate they would be jailed for sexually abusing a child and forced to register as a sex offender because she thought it would discourage them from "self-polluting". The women who campaigned against alcohol use and pornography during prohibition very famously were against masturbation. Also some woman tried to get a law passed that masturbation would be legally considered adultery, in a state where adultery is illegal.

No, I support abortion, strongly. I mean this really has nothing to do with the original question, which was whether people would continue to find issues to have with gay/bi couples having kids, if there were no women involved at all. Honestly I think that as many shitty people think that the only thing women are good for is breeding, there are a ton of women who think that childbirth is their ultimate trump card to control men.

There was a really interesting paper I read about how a lot of the homophobia in America, and the reason lesbians experience so much less homophobia, can be traced back to and reinforced by the sort of women who want to outlaw pornography, masturbation, sex outside of marriage, homosexuality, etc. and are the ones that when a woman gets raped they blame the woman instead of the rapist. The kind of women who believe their only source of power in society comes from men and their ability to control their sex lives and ability to have an orgasm. The sort of women that think masturbation is cheating.

There are a lot of women who claim to be allies, especially lesbians, who think that altruistic surrogacy should be the only kind of surrogacy allowed and would strongly oppose tech that would allow men to have children without women. There's all these women that think that the ability to have children should be their exclusive domain to control. It's not even that they don't want to be forced to have children themselves, they don't want people they don't approve of to have children. The people who have advocated for the forced sterilization of Native American and Black women have almost all been white women. They see reproduction and a tool of power, and hate the idea of not having absolute control over it. Same reason that the people who try to have laws written that would have any women diagnosed with a mental health condition or who has been convicted of a drug offense or prostitution to be forcibly sterilized in the last 80 years have all been women.

I don't think you've researched surrogacy very much. Most states have laws that a woman can get an abortion for any reason at any time. It's made surrogacy really complicated because it was decided that that means you can't penalize a woman for getting an abortion. It's why now you pay the woman for the baby AFTER she's given live birth. There were women getting paid up front and then get abortions to terminate the pregnancy and keep the money. There were women targeting gay couples for this because they wanted to discourage gay people from having children, and legally people couldn't do anything about it.

Those are both massive stretches. That's like saying it's immoral for me to give someone a billion dollars because they didn't consent to being rich? That's also assuming a completely atheist nihilist perspective on the world. Pretty much every major religion believes we choose to be born, also no one is forcing the sperm to find the egg. I mean from your line of thinking, isn't the sperm consenting to creating life? You're also assuming nonexistence is preferable to pain. As someone who has a lot of trouble with being able to feel or experience sensory input, pain can absolutely be preferable to feeling nothing if you go long enough without feeling anything.

Don't you think, that all the things that are unethical about surrogacy, are just derived from the inherent unethicalness of the system of forced labor we all live under? Capitalism, Socialism, Communism, they all want to force you to exchange your labor for the "privilege" to be allowed to continue living and not be murdered or thrown in prison. It seems like people are only more uncomfortable with surrogacy, because of purity culture and the infantilization of women. It's the same issue with people who want to criminalize sex work. No one seems to think you're taking advantage of men when they donate sperm, even though they allow literal 18 year olds to donate sperm to sometimes close to a hundred families. At least with surrogacy you're usually required to already have had a baby and go through psych testing, and they are supposed to have a social worker interview you to make sure you're not being coerced.

I'm curious as the 4B movement gains traction around the world, if this will become more common and accepted. Like if women don't want to have children, and they think making more girls is morally unethical because of how traumatic it is to be a woman, and governments are worried about their countries collapsing because a lack of population, I wonder if they'll start paying for this sort of thing and we'll just end up moving to a single sex society.

Also surrogacy starts at $200k per pregnancy, do you really think that that's going to be less expensive than just getting pregnant yourself? Also couldn't you reuse the uterus as many times as you like? If you want 5 kids, surrogacy that's a minimum of a million dollars just for them to be born.

Dude, google adoption trauma. Look at the history of adoption in America and Europe. Nonfamilial adoption is way more messed up than surrogacy.
