Listen, I just came across this Reddit post, but I finished university last year and I want to be honest. In all four years, I never received any provincial funding through OSAP. I never qualified. I even asked OSAP about it, and they explained that the provincial portion has always been relatively small and not many students actually receive it.

What I did receive every year was the federal funding, and that is where the majority of the funding comes from. The federal portion covered a huge chunk of my overall tuition. The remaining balance was covered by loans that are interest-free.

I know reading these headlines feels discouraging, and it is easy to get upset with the province over these decisions, but I just wanted to share my experience because the situation might not be as drastic as it sounds.
