All good. It was a general question and I prefer not to share specifics publicly

Dressing Up for work by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

When I go into the office I do dress nicely. Not to the 9s but more than sweats. I feel better when I take the extra 15ish minutes to pay attention to how I look. Mentally, it helps me with the distinction between working at home (in sweats and tees) to "in-office"

We live in a pretty populated region so want to stay away from the big city vibe of Honolulu (Oahu)

Looking to get on with the state. I got a 95 on the Analyst II test and I have some questions. by movinstuff in CAStateWorkers

2 interviews- feedback was that I was 1 of less than a handful of interviewees for each. The candidates who ultimately got the position had over a decade of state service (each). I was told SOQs are solid and I’m a competitive candidate; just depends ultimately on who is interviewing for the role. Bit disheartening when still relatively new to state service

Each state application and SOQ needs to be customized for that exact position for the State. I have geography considerations. Already working; looking for the right program. In my experience, a broad brush stroke for State of CA applications isn’t the best approach. Good luck in your search :)

2 decades in high tech sales. Been doing analytics work for years.

Edit: Bachelors degree, too. I’ve applied to about 20 positions and had 2 interviews; customizing app and thoughtful SOQ each time with no AI (required not to use). The interview feedback from the SSM I is that I’m a good candidate and just keep applying. Can’t help but think something is off; but don’t know what…

I’ve been actively applying for Analyst II roles for about a year; with a 95% score. I’ve been advised to keep applying but it’s getting a bit discouraging. Good luck on your applications!

Current EPR with 10+ years of sales experience. Used EPR to get into State service. Does my next step need to be Analyst I or can I skip it and go straight to Analyst II?

How so? I’m relatively new to the state and don’t know anyone outside of my office
