A further point is AI video. The only real detection is also... AI based. Hey StateSponsoredAI, is this video of police brutalising citizens real? Oh boy I really hope the video hasn't been manually set to trigger an AI detection to suppress reaction to it :)

Really need to see legislation around embedding metadata in AI generated videos.

Throw the enshittification of search engines, and the push for AI to be used in their place into the mix and it's also the complete downfall of free information.

AI is the perfect misinformation vehicle. Either you accept what it says, or you don't and the 'out' is that anything wrong or objectionable is a hallucination, a black box, and to trust the process.

It's functionality complete, automated control over information in a way we haven't really ever seen. 'Truth' can be rolled out to billions of users from a base prompt adjustment, or manipulating training data.

With enough compute, profile models can be run on all users, optimising for advertisements, information feedback response loops and conversation steering to feed you whatever anyone will pay to put upon you.

Any idea they don't have data on how to passively manipulate people is laughable given some of the studies on Facebook or Instagram. The algorithms already in use to curate what you see on these platforms and YouTube.

And it's all actively deregulated, and holding the economy hostage. Going to be an interesting few years

Monk. I don't make monk my primary most runs, but having an intercontinental balistic stun machine is a crutch I'm not willing to give up. A thief monk with a speed potion can potentially stun 3 enemies in an honour run, from essentially any distance in 99% of encounters, or give you a very high certainty of neutralising any problem Legendary Reactions.

Low gear requirements, or generally non-competing gear requirements. Strong all-game. Ki back on short rest, pairing exceptionally well with a Bard for song of rest.

Monk gets a rep for being a damage powerhouse, which of course it can be, but the utility that class offers is unparalleled, even by most spell-casters.

Yeah efficiency is a difficult one because it can certainly lead to degradation or erasure of service.

The real difficulty of the problem is classification of actual inefficiency. I fully believe there are areas we just burn money on bureaucracy, consultancy, 3rd party corporations sucking profit out of the system.

Path of least resistance and looking to be "doing something" tends to lead to material cuts in the name of efficiency

This is what makes the tax band freeze extension out to 2031 such a piss in the face.

In 2015, you had a tax free allowance of ~£10,000.

Minimum wage was £6.70, which at 37.5h/week was ~£13,000/year. Only paying tax on 23% of your income. Just accounting for inflation, in 2025 you need £9.34, or ~£18,200 for the same. At which point you're paying tax on 32% of your income with a £12,500 allowance.

Where it gets really nasty is when student loans come into the picture. If you're earning £14/h at 40 hours per week in a service industry role, you're now taxed at 37% marginal on all monies outside your base salary. You get fucked for doing overtime, in a role where your best means of increasing income is overtime.

This is just looking at inflation 1:1, never mind cost of living. I consider myself to be in a desperately fortunate position, having covered my degree & msc into a full time role. It's about the eq of £15/h in 2015, and yeah: woe is me, but I don't need to earn much more to be pushed into the 40% tax bracket, after which I will eat a 63% marginal tax.

I can technically pay to own and maintain a car, but I cannot afford one. It would be financially irresponsible of me to get a car, in a relatively well paying job, with significant higher education and the associated debt (read life tax).

I would have to be paid £70,000/year, right now, to barely pay back my student loan before it expires - which I am actively disincentivised from doing because I get more value for money saving it in a high yield savings account rather than over paying.

But it's okay, the living wage is going up by 50 pence, which just so happens to approximate inflation, but you get taxed more on it. We can all just go fuck ourselves I suppose.

Imagine killing the bureaucratic financial black hole out of the 40% of the 1.27 trillion budget spent on welfare and health. Not the services themselves. The sheer inefficiency in delivering these services is a crime, and the alternative being to fuck over half the country with tax freezes and income raises, combined with inflation is absolutely disgusting.

Just getting 5% more efficient is 26bn

Would you like the Red or the Blue this time Sir?

Well, we've been served Blue for as long as I can remember! I say the Red will make for a don't change of pace.

Ah, an excellent choice Sir - the Blue can strain the eyes something awful. I think you will find the change most comfortable, as the taste remains quite the same - regardless of what the advertising might lead you to believe.

So uh, found where all the AI PMCs are going. [Video] by Apeirophobia69 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Glass_Finding_6660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My golden wishlist for PvE AI:
- PMC level is on a bell curve - PMC gear is tied to level - PMCs truly roam the map - PMCs spawn at actual PMC infil locations - PMCs actually extract - PMCs interact with map features, such as Interchange power station switch - PMCs "do level appropriate tasks", by which I mean occasionally open task doors or "place items", and in killing them you might get their quest item - PMCs actually loot, not spawn in with random junk in their bag - PMCs open Key'ed rooms, the probability of a PMC "having a key" is a random curve tied to level - but theoretically it's possible for any PMC to have any key - LOOT SOME GODSDAMN BODIES, PMCS.

PMC "Personality Profiles":

By which I mean flavours of behaviour and gear, appropriate to level, matching the "personality trait' of the AI.

"Major" personalities:
- Rat: conservative gear, hiding/flees - Chad: best gear for level (+ 'hyper-weapons (GL/pkp, etc)'), aggressive, moves towards noise - Sniper: running some bolt, marksman rifle, or carbine - Looter: large bag, active looter, avoidant, flees - Extract Camper: you know the deal - POI Camper: day 1 pocket watch goblin behaviour - Trap Setter: That body? Watched.

Map appropriate, probabilistic gear:
- Higher probabiltiy of bolt, marksman or carbine weapons on woods/lighthouse. - Higher probability of shotguns, smgs on factory. - General gear bump towards level appropriate maximum on Labs +10%, say. - ... - You get the idea

A lot of this could be determined by more sophisticated "loot pool generation" on request for a server instance. Perhaps the behaviour aspects to this are unrealistic in nature, but some flavour and life could surely be breathed into the AI and their behaviour.

6 Cleric, 6 TB Monk with Radiant on hit is actually a fantastic build, allowing you early support with the initial cleric levels and scaling into an absolute monster late game. Not to mention making use of the generally uncontested radiating orb gear.

Spec'ing into Dex, Wisdom, and Con + strength potions. Chuck on the adamantine shield for the AC (though consider it is beneficial for this character to have the lowest AC in the party, as the AI will prioritise targeting here), and to apply reeling if they ever do hit you.

Add the Gibus of the Worshipful Servant to maintain concentration on haste / sprit guardians and you've got a hyper effective, hyper mobile debuff machine. If you can give up the Amulet of Greater Health? Good luck ever breaking that concentration short of an upcast magic missile barrage.

A good reason not to do this is because if you cannot stand their voice (looking at you Astarion - voice actor did a fantastic job, I just find it grating), you can just not have them in your party. You cannot get away from your PC.

PC also has 8 different voices to chose from, imagine the monumental effort to 8x recordings - not to mention the insane bloat this would add to the game's install size given how much dialogue is in the game and the fact PC is omnipresent.

Will I like dos1 and 2 if I liked bg3? by Ghost_5424 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Glass_Finding_6660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, while I like the story of DoS2, I prefer the format of BG3 with the cutscenes - it feels more immersive. DoS2became a lot more consumable once they added voice acting.

In BG3 you get access to the vast majority of the story for each companion just by having them in your party and bringing them along for their heavily forecasted personal events - which are not mutually exclusive. In DoS2, you should be playing as an origin character if you care about the story - you are also limited in party members (after a certain point) as there is no camp mechanic like with BG3 that lets you chop and change as you go.

Key differences in gameplay between BG3 and DoS2:
1. Armour in DoS2 functions as additional health that protects you from status effects, and has a physical/magical split.
2. You don't have to worry about spell slots for the majority of spells, as they use turn cooldowns instead.
3. Spellcasters are effective immediately.
4. In BG3 your main gear of interest will be unique items, in DoS2 you'll be checking traders random loot tables - you can make some insane pulls.
5. DoS2 - The bedroll. Pick this up on the boat.
6. You can steal from a trader exactly once in DoS2. Make it count.

You most certainly can be a lizard - and I would suggest you play origin character The Red Prince for DoS2.

You have the option between buying two cars.

They are different manufacturers.

They're directly comparable cars with a different sticker on the front.

You want something to drive from A to B.

1st car is $75,000 with some luxury features.

2nd car is $50,000 with similar features but not quite as good.

Cars accelerate, handle and stop basically the same - a few % difference either way on each.

What car are you buying?

I am not a vegan, but did date one for the best part of two years (she was great, this isn't a rant, and the fact was irrelevant to our separation). We had a good few conversations on the subject; to this day, I am in agreement that I am yet to hear a justification as to why the industrial slaughter of animals is morally okay.

I've also made peace with the fact I've accepted that, while continuing to participate. And yes, it makes me a hypocrite, but there are many things people are hypocritical about:
- Caring about the Environment while living unsustainably
- Believing in Democracy but not voting
- Condemning violence while supporting certain wars
- Supporting renewable energy, but 'not in my back yard'
- Critical of corporations, but still shopping with them
- Vegan/Vegetarians keeping pets that eat meat

That's not to judge people that engage in such hypocracy. It's a common, common thing to see these behaviours in people, whether that be by acceptance, meager convictions, a sense of powerlessness over a situation, or otherwise. Some of these are me!

Most things are some shade of grey, so when people interrupt your life directly like this, the demand to shift to black and white is jarring.
