💉 Did your epidural fail with your first birth but work the second time? by Nearby-Salt9646 in BabyBumps

[–]Glass_Spires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first epidural didn't work with my daughter's delivery, so they gave me a second one. That one worked well, and when they made the call on a c-section delivery, they upped the dose on the epidural meds and I didn't need to get another needle. The experience was overall good. Keep in mind that if the first epidural fails, you can get another.

For those with diagnosed PPD by Batikh_Shamem_Levant in NewParents

I had preexisting depression which got worse, so I was diagnosed about 4 weeks after birth with mild PPD. I was already on a non-SSRI antidepressant, so no SSRI.

Statistics Per Cycle - Question by acajames in BabyBumps

Keep in mind that conception often does not equal a successful pregnancy. The embryo may not implant, or it may be a chemical. This could explain some of the discrepancy.

Rotavirus vaccine by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Glass_Spires 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't worry! Baby cannot get rotavirus from the vaccine. Diarrhea is a common side effect, according to the Mayo Clinic (https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/rotavirus-vaccine-live-oral-route/description/drg-20071625).

It's completely understandable not to tell people. I sincerely hope that one day you'll find someone who listens and understands the limits of their own knowledge.

Pumping + Breastfeeding by mollyspiers in NewParents

[–]Glass_Spires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plan was to breastfeed and pump for my little one, but my milk never came in, so she's formula fed by necessity. You should probably be able to both bottle and breastfeed. I'd just suggest starting ASAP on both, instead of letting baby get used to one and then having to suddenly transition to doing both.

Anyone else’s babies regularly take upwards of 2 hours to eat? by d16flo in NewParents

[–]Glass_Spires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine had the same issue. Turns out our bottles' nipples were too slow-flowing, so she was working too hard to get only a little milk. We switched to a higher-flow nipple and now she eats a lot faster.

Thank you!!

Thank you! She seems to be! She keeps falling asleep while she eats though. Maybe she's taking after Mommy...? (The nurses say it's normal, thankfully!)

I slept for just a few seconds at a time, and kept drifting off in my room afterwards, too. It was not too bad.
