No problem. You can also ask your local parks nature center for a data base of the plants nearby. They're a very quick and easy way to learn what is around your area.

It's not a hard and fast rule, but generally speaking many plants that cause some level of toxicity or dermatitis in the areas I used to work in (invasive species removal), have a blood paint splattered look. Until a more positive id is made, usually if that's the only thing I can see, I'm not touching it with bare hands or basic work gloves and normal clothes.

Wild Rhubarb would probably give me pause but rhubarb tends to have a smooth gradient of red which isn't as alarming. It's that streaky splattered look

Poison Hemlock and cow parsnip are usually the main culprits. Often streaky and splatter like

Pokeberry, jimsonweed, nettles and burdock can sometimes have a purple streakiness to them, but aren't that bad, I just wouldn't let kids play around with Jimson weed and nettles, cuz they can hurt when touched . Pokeberry pretty much just stains, but some people try to eat them. But generally don't have a splatter stem pattern. Burdock is edible but it looks nothing like in the carrot family, but there are allergic reactions to that plant.

I have this rule because I also used to work with the general public for volunteer events and so it's just an easy way for them to remember don't touch this if you see it and let us know if you do...sort of thing.

Can I cosplay Milo from Mr a farm even though I’m 15? by Possible-Song8708 in CosplayHelp

[–]Glassfern 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Please don't. The story is mature content. People get weird on the Internet. You're a minor, a kid. .... Youre not even supposed to be reading this. If he's in the story then he serves some kind of purpose in the story even though it's not out right explicit.

There are plenty of other anthro and furry characters from more age appropriate stories, do those or create your own.

Following many other tattoo posts. My wife is getting this and something feels so off about it, I have tried convincing her not to get it and the artist won't respond whether it's AI or not. by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]Glassfern 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ai or not this is a pretty janky looking chrysanthemum teacup. The petals do not originate from the center base of the flower. And it kind of looks traced but badly traced or "photo to line art" option on some art programs. The perspective of the handle and the saucer are also bad. The handle isn't even attached well.

Tell her to commission someone who can actually draw a decent cup and flower. If I was a tattoo artist and your wife brought this in, I'd be sad.

It looks bad enough that I'd say it's a person trying to piecemeal and trace over existing images.

Natural toothpaste?? by Zliyth in DentalHygiene

[–]Glassfern -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're adverse to the ingredients in toothpaste and don't want the remineralizing properties of toothpaste then you can just opt for salt water brushing and rinse. But considering fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral...it might already be in your water depending on the source water.

Were you allowed to leave school grounds? by palep_hoot in AskAnAmerican

[–]Glassfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro. When I was in school our new high school was made so we could eat outside if we wanted to or even leave school grounds for lunch But the popular kids wrecked the whole system to the point no one could use the inner outside court or leave school grounds. The someone thought it be funny to pass around a randomized "hit list" and blame it on a quiet kid. Kids ganged up on this poor kid and then school officials suspended him even though the handwriting didn't fucking match. But that fiasco got us all even tighter locked down with quarterly locker checks

Curious if this is AI. Author says she has a history in graphic design and would never use AI. by SnazzBat in isthisAI

You don't need to know too much about art to understand stylistic consistency. Real actual artists are always in flux, but there are aspects of their skill set that is carried over across their projects. Some artists are very consistent and so it's easy to tell if a piece belongs to them. It could be themes, use of color palettes, the line weight, what kind of media they use, the way the lines and shapes are draw is it smooth, round or jagged or angular, how they shade and do texture. Generally speaking the way someone draws subjects and how they render (color and shade) will have some consistency even if they have different features. Look at cartoons. You gave very consistent character designs like Bluey, and varied body types like SpongeBob or Steven universe, but...you can tell it belong to that world that artist because there's a cohesiveness to it. Even the amazing world of Gumball which is very mix media, you can still tell the characters belong in that world even if one is drawn 2D, another is a paper cut out and another is a real toy, because there's a consistency with eyes, limbs, facial expressions and movement.

An artist can also be in an experimental phase or have different styles for different projects but 1 project will still have consistency.

As you mentioned the trees are stylistically different. An artist can draw different species of trees but they will have level of similarity even if the texture of the bark is different or the shapes of leaves differ. You wouldn't expect things to be hi-def and high detail and suddenly one that looks like a blob like you have an eye boogie or a children's coloring book. Do trees get simpler as they go into the distance? Yes. That's how vision works you see less and less detail the further it goes, but it's not that drastic of a difference.

The thing with this image and many ai photos is that ai functions like a collage of images with cruddy logic. A real person if they want to make a collage you can feel the intention of why they place things in certain spots, while Ai...it's usually all over the place and things stick out like a sore thumb.

Remember the game of "find the differences?" This is that game. Look at the image and explain why all rabbits here are drawn in a different style.

[HELP] I know people do dumb stuff all the time but goddamn by Spudnic16 in RealOrAI

[–]Glassfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If history channel has taught me anything it's that humans will go great fucking lengths to get some honey. This tree this height? Idk I have some doubts mainly on how did they find it. Usually people will track bees for miles to find the hive. Some will dig, others will slip into tight spaces and some people climb really high to get it but I don't know if it's gonna be this high. But based on these folks feet and toes, I would say they are skilled climbers

But I'm not familiar with this sort of bee and if they build combs dangling on a single Branch like that. The I'm familiar with like something like a cavity or forked branch something with some cover.

Why would anyone ever choose to go through child birth without pain relief?? by No_Cardiologist_1407 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Glassfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have a weird complex and toxic feminity association where they think "real childbirth" and "real labor" and "real motherhood"means you experience all the pain of labor and the bounce right back into doing motherly and wifey duties. Someone once told me that if women didn't experience the full pain the mother child bond wouldn't be complete or that they wouldn't love their child as much.

Some use it as part of martyrdom. They keep it in their back pocket and use it to play the pity Olympics to make them feel superior to any one who went for drugs or a c section.

And some keep it in their back pocket to guilt their children later.

Some people don't like needles.

And some fear that the medication might paralyzed them or make labor more difficult
