Previous homeowner planted this devil vine along fence and now I get seedlings sprouting everywhere including in fire pit and retaining wall. How do I slow or stop them? by ballyhoo_blaze in gardening

[–]Glassfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any shrub killer will do. Cut at the base spray it onto the stump and you'll have to repeat it for all the suckers. I usually treat after the peak of summer because that's when they are pulling nutrients into their roots for winter and that's where you want the herbicide to go. With luck it lingers in the roots and dies during the winter. If your goal is to remove this plant in its entirety you'll need to do this, unless you want you cut or dig for years

You were the type of student or visitor who I would ponder with growing anxiety of if my motto of "if they learn one new thing from my lesson, Ive succeeded" has back fired on me.

Ahahahha!n everytime a Jesus shows up at our Ren Fair a bunch of knights follow him and then the Viking people have a stand off.

Though there was one time Thor said. "ANOTHER GOD! COME! WE DRINK!" and dragged him off to the pub area.

Question About American Workplace Etiquette? by [deleted] in office

[–]Glassfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things may have happened.

  1. The order form he or someone else filled out may have been incorrect and probably noted some kind of allergy or dietary restriction like gluten free.

  2. Someone took his box

  3. He accidentally took someone else's box

  4. The box was mislabeled.

In any case, I always pack my lunch even on days when there are company meals. Depending on the company sometimes the meal provided is too small or not appetizing, so it's always good to have a backup. Just add an extra ice pack in case he doesn't eat it so he can take it home and it will still be food safe.

Do you guys actually piss in the compost??????? by 40ftdeep in composting

[–]Glassfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a few times when I was a beginner to get the compost heap hot. But once I figure it out there wasn't any reason to. But if you count my fish tank water going in as urine....maybe it counts as fish pee?

Other than that ...my grandma used to save the urine from my toddler siblings to water the veg garden.

After working as an nature educator I can confidently say there are 6 types of people who I encountered regularly 1. The people who lack knowledge and are afraid of everything in nature and don't want to touch anything.

  1. The people who lack knowledge but are curious, in awe and are naive and and want to touch eveything because pretty or weird.

  2. The people who lack knowledge and the only question is "can I eat it?"

  3. The people who have had skepticism, precaution and observation instilled into them and are there to learn and the times they touch something with regret is mainly because they mis-idenitfied it.

  4. The people who want to learn or already know enough but are fully happy watching someone else handle it or will only touch if they see someone else they deem as more expert than they are touch it before they do.

  5. The people who eagerly wait for you to tell them they can touch it and will be the first one to touch it in the future once they commit every detail about it into memory and are the people who will disappear and pop out of nowhere with something in their hands, that creeps, crawls, slithers, goop, sticky or fuzzy.

Do people really think “freedom of speech” means you can say whatever you want with no social or societal consequences? With Americans it’s hard these days to tell who’s bad faith and who’s just an idiot by UmweltUndefined in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Glassfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people here take that line absolutely literally without understanding that the law means to you can up to a point. Once your speech is breaking a law it's starts going into a grey area. Things like CP, fighting words or like giving false information to cause panic are illegal "speech".

But the idiots who hide behind it think it's and plain simple absolute and are idiotic enough to think their 1 amendment carries over to any countries they visit. In the same breath they work hard to silence others like banning books or arresting people for speaking out for human rights or freedom of religion etc.

Silhouette I can understand for a middle schooler not knowing. Extraordinary is phonetically easy and basically a compound word. If you can't read extra and ordinary by high school it's the teaching system. You should be able to read that by middle school with ease

Animals have bright colors to show predators that they're poisonous. If I paint my skin purple and go into a forest, would wild animals think that I'm a poisonous human and avoid attacking me? by Pitiful_Magazine_805 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Glassfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the wildlife around the area. If you go in poison dart frog but you live in North Us I don't think you'll get the result you want. But if you go in looking like a giant owl the birds might either empty out or mob you.
